Jesse Bradford Bio

Jesse Bradford

American actor Jesse Bradford Watrouse, known popularly as Jesse Bradford, was born May 28, 1979, in Norwalk, Connecticut. Bradford was the only child of two acting parents, although their work was primarily limited to commercials.

Destined to be in front of the camera, Bradford was already promoting Q-Tips for television commercials at just eight months old. With his parent’s approval, he also began modeling and eventually auditioning for film roles. By 1984, Bradford was acting with Hollywood’s A-list such as Robert De Niro, Meryl Streep, Harvey Keitel, and Dianne Wiest for the film Falling in Love. He has been working steadily ever since.

Bradford followed this success with many more supporting roles throughout the 80s and early 90s. He did, however, score a lead in the Depression era film King of the Hill in 1993, which won him much critical acclaim. Avid fans may also recognize his pre-fame work in Romeo + Juliet with Leonardo DiCaprio, Claire Danes, John Leguizamo, and Paul Rudd.

Despite finding success early, Bradford maintained a fairly normal life. During his time at Brien McMahon High School, Bradford described himself as a geology nerd. Despite this self-assigned label, he won the vote for best looking as well as favorite actor. Additionally, he was the tennis team captain and Homecoming king. Bradford completed his secondary education at Columbia University where he earned his film degree in 2002. Since his debut in film, Bradford had been seamlessly drifting between genres. One minute he was doing a family film such as Far From Home: The Adventures of Yellow Dog, and the next he could be found in the independent crime thriller Hackers, with Angeline Jolie and Matthew Lillard. But he was still not a household name.

Then everything changed in 2000. Landing the romantic lead opposite Kirsten Dunst, Bring It On brought the kind of mass appeal and marketability Bradford needed. Never one to pass up an opportunity, he took that fame and ran with it. While still appearing in several independent films (Dancing at the Blue Iguana and According to Spencer), 2002 was definitely his most commercial year. He appeared in both Clockstoppers with French Stewart and Swimfan with Erika Christensen.

His next significant job was a nine-episode appearance on the presidential themed television show The West Wing playing intern Ryan Pierce.

Bradford’s subsequent film roles have focused on his craft in acting such as a lead in Happy Endings with Lisa Kudrow, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Tom Arnold. He also took a starring role in the new Clint Eastwood directorial project Flags of Our Fathers.

When he’s not acting, Bradford plays the guitar and enjoys snowboarding.

He is currently filming My Sassy Girl with 24 star Elisha Cuthbert and has completed the film Victims.
