Jesse McCartney Biography American actor and musician Jesse McCartney has officially proven he’s a double threat. Not only did he earn multiple Emmy nominations for his work with All My Children, but he also found success in the music world. Although his band Dream Street was popular, he has found even more success with his multiple solo albums. Jesse McCartney was born April 9, 1987 in Ardsley, New York. His parents are Scott McCartney and Ginger McCartney. Always knowing he wanted to be in the spotlight, McCartney began performing when he was only seven years old. At that time, he made his onstage debut in local musical theater. Just three short years later, he was touring with the national production of The King and I opposite Ricky Ullman. The following year, McCartney and his parents relocated to Los Angeles, California in order to more fully pursue his acting ventures. His onscreen debut came in 1998 when he landed a recurring role on All My Children. His character was with the program until 2001, and during this time, he shared the screen with Kelly Ripa, David Canary, Marj Dusay, and others. For his time with the soap opera, McCartney was nominated for two Daytime Emmy Awards.
McCartney is also noted for his time with the drama series Summerland, which ran from 2004 through 2005. He played Bradin Westerly opposite co-leads Lori Loughlin, Merrin Dungey, and Ryan Kwanten. Teen heartthrob Zac Efron also had a recurring role on the program. Others may recognize him for his starring role in 2007’s romantic drama Keith. Outside of acting, McCartney is also noted for his work with the boy band Dream Street, which he joined in 1999. He was with the outfit until 2002. Their first album went gold, but they split up shortly after while touring with fellow boy bander Aaron Carter. Deciding to go the solo route, McCartney’s first album outside a band was entitled Beautiful Soul, and it hit the shelves on September 28, 2004. Outselling any of his former endeavors, the album was certified platinum. His follow up album was 2006’s Right Where You Want Me. After production, McCartney took a small hiatus from recording. Much to the relief of his fans, he officially confirmed that the break was temporary. He also confirmed he was in the works for a third album entitled Departure, which was finally released May 20, 2008. His vocal prowess can also be heard on the Ella Enchanted track “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” along with Anne Hathaway.
In his personal life, he has been romantically linked to Brenda Song, Hilary Duff, and Amber Koop. On the more serious relationship front, he was also said to be dating Katie Cassidy from 2004 until their breakup in 2007. |
