Jordan Bratman Biography Music producer Jordan Bratman was born on June 4, 1977, in New York City. The son of a music producer, Bratman grew up in the atmosphere of the recording industry, and went on to intern at several recording studios in New York City. After graduating from New York’s private Jewish prep school, the Ethical Culture Fieldston School in 1995, Bratman studied business management at Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School in Louisiana. While studying there, Bratman began recording local artists at New Orleans’ American Sector Recording Studio.
In 1999, Grammy Award-Winning Producer, Dallas Austin, appointed Jordan the head of A&R for DARP Music, Inc. in Atlanta. Under Bratman’s leadership, the company emerged as a huge success, and Bratman went on to oversee Dallas Austin’s career, as well as developing and producing hits for such artists as Madonna, Michael Jackson, Boyz II Men, TLC, Pink, and his future wife, Christina Aguilera. In late 2002, Bratman moved to Los Angeles, and began spending time with one of the only L.A. residents he knew at the time, Christina Aguilera. Aguilera had just released her sophomore album, Stripped, and was undergoing a decidedly sexier image change in the public eye. In February 2005, Bratman proposed to Aguilera at a hotel room in Carmel, California, which was filled with gift boxes, each containing a poem written by Bratman. The final box contained a ring. After the couple announced their engagement, they were married nine months later in Napa Valley, California. The 130 wedding guests were asked to donate to the Hurricane Katrina and Rita relief funds in lieu of bringing gifts.
In the two years since their wedding, Bratman and Aguilera have been regarded as one of Hollywood’s more stable, low-profile couples. They have turned down numerous offers to document their marriage in a reality-TV show, as Aguilera’s friend, Jessica Simpson and her ex-husband, Nick Lachey, did in their show, Newlyweds. During an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show in February, 2007, Aguilera proclaimed that she and Bratman were the "coziest couple ever," and went on to explain a weekly ritual the couple has called "naked Sundays," explaining, "On Sundays we just do everything in the house, and we're just cozy and laid back, we don't need to go anywhere we're just with each other and have naked Sundays. We do everything naked. We cook naked." In recent years, Bratman has formed his own independent management company, and was selected as a consultant for UMG and Universal Pictures, in which he collaborates on soundtracks for such films as Bad Boys 2 (2003) and Honey (2004).
