Josh Duhamel American actor and Daytime Emmy winner Josh Duhamel is one of the most desirable actors currently on the market. He is known for his work on All My Children, Las Vegas, and Transformers. Joshua David Duhamel was born November 14, 1972 in Minot, North Dakota. His mother was a physical education teacher named Bonnie, while his father was Larry Duhamel, a salesman. When his parents divorced, Duhamel was subsequently raised by his mother. Unlike some children in this position, however, he remains close to both parents. Duhamel graduated from Minot State University, where he majored in biology. In addition to his studies, Duhamel was also noted for playing quarterback on the school’s football team. Originally intending to enter the dental profession, Duhamel’s plans changed when he won a modeling contest for IMTA. Oddly enough, the runner up was future star Ashton Kutcher. Following this, he made his onscreen debut in 1999 on the wildly popular soap opera All My Children. Cast as Leo du Pres, Duhamel’s debut role thrust him in the limelight. From 1999 to 2002, he appeared opposite the likes of Susan Lucci and Kelly Ripa. For his work with the show, he was nominated at the Daytime Emmy Awards in 2001, 2002, and 2003. He took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2002.
When Duhamel left the safety of All My Children, he had no way of knowing an even better role was just around the corner. Landing the lead in the new hit series Las Vegas, Duhamel quickly became one of televisions hottest new stars. His cast mates include Vanessa Marcil, Molly Sims, James Caan, and Nikki Cox. Taking the job in 2003, Duhamel is currently still with the show. Adding to his popularity, he also showed up sporadically on the television series Crossing Jordan as his Las Vegas character Danny McCoy. On this new set, he shared the screen with cast regulars Jill Hennessy, Miguel Ferrer, Steve Valentine, and Jerry O Connell. Moving on from the high drama television genre, Duhamel opted to simultaneously dabble in film while shooting Las Vegas. His film debut came in 2004 when he was cast as the title character in The Picture of Dorian Gray based on the Oscar Wilde novel of the same name. But it was his title role in 2004’s Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! that really put him on the star map. In the bubbly, romantic comedy, he costarred with Kate Bosworth, Topher Grace, Nathan Lane, Amy Smart, and Ginnifer Goodwin.
Departing from any type of project he’d pursued before, Duhamel next landed the lead in the horror slasher film Turistas in 2006. He led the cast, which included Melissa George, Olivia Wilde, Desmond Askew, Beau Garrett, and Max Brown. Most recently, he impressed fans as Captain Lennox in Michael Bay’s blockbuster hit Transformers. The film also featured Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Tyrese Gibson, Jon Voight, and John Turturro. In his personal life, he was romantically linked to model Kristy Pierce. They were even engaged briefly before breaking off the relationship. Since, Duhamel has been linked to Stacy Ferguson, known popularly as Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas. They are currently engaged. Outside of acting, he opened a restaurant called 10 North Main. |
