Julianne Hough Biography Arguably one of the most well known ballroom dancers in the world, Julianne Hough gained star status practically overnight by winning season four of Dancing with the Stars. She can currently be seen on the show’s latest season. Julianne Marie Hough was born July 20, 1988 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Raised in a Mormon family, Hough was one of five children. Seemingly destined to become a dancer, she constitutes the third generation of dancers in her family. Dancing since the age of three, Hough pursued her craft at Center Stage Performing Arts. With this added training, she was competing in a competitive manner by the age of nine. Everything was proceeding smoothly until her parents divorced one year later, shattering the family dynamic. Hough and her brother, Derek Hough, were subsequently sent to London, England. They continued their pursuit of dance under world renowned champion Corky Ballas. Her next school was the Italia Conti Academy of Performing Arts, where she also received vocal training. While here, she received the honor of becoming the youngest Junior Blackpool World Latin Champion. After all these accomplishments, she was still just fifteen. At this age, she finally returned home and attended Alta High School. After graduation, Hough moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career in entertainment.
To that end, one of her first gigs was helping choreograph Gwen Stefani’s video “Wind It Up.” She is also noted for forming the band 2B1G with her brother. Hough’s career, however, did not earn her a spot in the limelight until 2007 when she first appeared on Dancing with the Stars. Winning in her first year, she danced with noted Olympic gold medalist Apolo Anton Ohno. She danced alongside fellow professionals Cheryl Burke, Kym Johnson, Karina Smirnoff, and others. Week in and week out, she was scrutinized by recurring judges Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Len Goodman. She can currently be seen on the latest installment of the show. In an interesting twist, her brother is actually another professional contestant on the show. This time around, Hough is paired with Nascar celebrity Helio Castroneves. Other stars associated with the newest season are Drew Lachey, Melanie Brown, Jennie Garth, Wayne Newton, Marie Osmond, Jane Seymour, and others. In addition to Dancing with the Stars, Hough has also appeared on Ellen: The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Entertainment Tonight, and Show Me the Money.
In her personal life, Hough and Zach Wilson were engaged to be married. Their wedding was set for August 8, 2007. After postponing the date, the wedding was eventually called off altogether. Outside of dance, Hough is also gaining recognition for her blossoming music career. She released the single “Will You Dance with Me” in May of 2007. Featured on iTunes, it performed, and continues to perform, extremely well. Let us know of updates to the Julianne Hough biography at editor@yuddy.com |
