As a child, Catherine Ann Bosworth moved with her family often. Born in Los Angeles, she had moved to San Francisco by the age of six. Just three years later, the family relocated to Connecticut, and a short five years later found themselves in Cohasset, Massachusetts. Bosworth was a champion equestrian with a budding interest in acting when she learned of an open casting call for a movie that revolved around horses. Robert Redford’s The Horse Whisperer would prove to launch two young actresses into stardom. Scarlett Johansson played the lead, and Bosworth won the role of her best friend.

Bosworth quickly found herself absorbed in the movie life, and she began to harbor worries that being an actress so young would rob her of a normal childhood. She made the decision to cease acting for eighteen months. After her hiatus, Bosworth’s next role was in the family-oriented film The Newcomers in 2000. Although it couldn’t even be considered a mild success, nobody had time to notice. In the same year, Bosworth took a role in the intensely popular film Remember the Titans. She experienced once again what it was like to be in a popular film with Hollywood’s A-list, her costar was Denzel Washington.

In 2002, Bosworth completed two films. Her first role was as a female surfer in Blue Crush, which was Bosworth’s first lead in a film. Her next movie was quite a departure from anything she’d done before; the first time she appeared in something a little more gritty. The Rules of Attraction reveled in sex, drugs, nudity, and violence. The wide-release version was even edited down from its original NC-17 rating. Bosworth appeared as a side character in the film, but the role was a statement that said, "I’m not a child actor anymore."

She followed up Rules with another intense role in 2003. Bosworth played the girlfriend of infamous porn star John Holmes in Wonderland, starring opposite Val Kilmer, Lisa Kudrow, Dylan McDermott, Christina Applegate, and Carrie Fisher.

But it was 2004 that would truly make Bosworth a known name. She scored the lead in the breezy romantic comedy Win A Date with Tad Hamilton! starring with That 70’s Show’s Topher Grace. The film was a hit with teenagers and adults alike.

2004 also proved to be the year that she portrayed legendary screen star Sandra Dee in the Bobby Darin biopic Beyond the Sea. Once again, Bosworth had associated herself with some of Hollywood’s finest, working with Kevin Spacey, John Goodman, and Bob Hoskins.

In 2006, Bosworth landed the highly coveted role of Lois Lane in the newest installment of the comic book series, Superman Returns. Incidentally, she found herself co-starring with Kevin Spacey yet again, who played the villainous (and bald) Lex Luther.

Bosworth is currently in pre-production for a drama titled Seasons of Dust. She plays a young woman forced to move in with farmers after her grandfather’s suicide in the Great Depression era. When one of the farmers attempts to rape her, she runs away with an attractive thief, played by real life boyfriend Orlando Bloom.

Outside the world of film, Bosworth is a seasoned equestrian, avid volunteer, and has been accepted to Princeton University.
