The recently discovered Irish born singer, song writer has not, so recently, been learning her craft but rather when she was a child at her home in Harrow, London, England, She began he long love affair with music when she learned to play the piano. Now a days her skill sees her being likened to other up and coming stars such as Lily Allen and Regina Spektor.

Kate Nash was born in Dublin, Ireland on July 6^th 1987, but from an early age she was raised in Harrow, England. She attended St John Fisher School and followed that with a period at St Joan of Acc Scholl, Rickmansworth. During her music GCSE’s she was required to compose songs which further instilled the need in her to follow a career in music.

Kate next enrolled at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in South London where her first love was acting and she made moves to start a career in acting by auditioning at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School but was sadly rejected.

With the rejection from the Old Vic, coupled with a fall which broke her foot, Kate took advantage of her time while being housebound to focus on her songwriting skills and wrote several new songs and completed some unfinished ones. Her next move was to showcase her portfolio at a local bar which led to her embarking on a musical career.

Nash's début record was a double-A side single released through independent record label Moshi Moshi in February 2007. The release was limited to 1000 copies, and was available on only 7" vinyl. Due to popular demand another 1000 copies were made and sold out extremely fast.

The B-side to the single was "Birds", an acoustic number that tells the story of a boy's inept attempts to try and explain to his girlfriend how he feels about her, all the while the girl remains despondent about the situation.

In March 2007, Nash was signed to the Polydor records and was featured on the Top of the Pops Christmas special on December 25th, 2007. She performed her smash-hit, Foundations. Nash’s New Years Eve gig saw her at the Chalk Farm Jamboree singing "Mouthwash" among many others.
