American actress Kathleen Robertson has displayed an impressive range over her varied career. Transitioning from television to film and back, Robertson is most known for her longtime role on Beverly Hills, 90210 and her recent appearance in Tin Man.

 

Kathleen Robertson was born July 8, 1973 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Starting her acting career at ten years old, her first credited role did not come until 1985. In this year, she starred in Left Out opposite Jayne Eastwood.

 

Becoming a child star in Canada before making it big in the United States, Robertson starred on the series Maniac Mansion. The show also featured Mark Wilson and Linda Kash, and it was directed by funny man Eugene Levy. Robertson partook from 1990 until 1993.

 

While filming was taking place, Robertson kept up with her studies at the prestigious Hillfield Strathallan College.

 

Breaking into mainstream, big screen productions, Robertson appeared in 1992’s Blown Away with Corey Haim, Nicole Eggert, and Corey Feldman.

 

The remainder of 1992 proved a busy year for Robertson. In quick succession, she appeared in Lapse of Memory with John Hurt, Liar’s Edge with Christopher Plummer, and Quiet Killer.

 

She continued to dabble in television and film until 1994 came, and she won a lead role on the popular series Beverly Hills, 90210. Serving a three year stint on the show, Robertson appeared with series regulars Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Jason Priestley, Luke Perry, Tiffani Thiessen, Shannon Doherty, and many others.

 

The show made her an overnight success, and she was able to capitalize with numerous film roles such as 1998’s comedy I Woke Up Early the Day I Died with Billy Zane as lead. She also appeared in Splendor with then rising star Johnathon Schaech.

 

Hitting a string of successes, Robertson appeared in Speaking of Sex in 2001 with James Spader, Scary Movie 2 with Anna Faris, I Am Sam opposite Sean Penn, and XX/XY with Mark Ruffalo.

 

Robertson continued to work steadily for the next four years in film, although none of the projects found a large commercial audience.

 

In 2006, however, she landed a critical success when she appeared in Hollywoodland opposite Adrien Brody, Diane Lane, Ben Affleck, Bob Hoskins, Robin Tunney, and Lois Smith.

 

In recent credits, Robertson landed a lead on the well received television series The Business. Despite rave reviews and an equally pleased audience, the show only lasted two seasons.

 

She has also garnered critical attention for her turn in the miniseries Tin Man with Zooey Deschanel, Alan Cumming, and Richard Dreyfuss.

 

Robertson is currently in post-production for The Hill with Desmond Harrington, Sunny Mabrey, Sara Rue, and others. It is due to be released in 2008.

 

In her persona life, she was once romantically linked to director Gregg Araki. While dating, she starred in two of his films—Nowhere (1997) and Splendor (1999). The two have since broken up.
