Allen Kelsey Grammer was born on February 21, 1955, on St. Thomas. He faced much tragedy while growing up. His parents divorced when he was young. When Grammer was thirteen, his father was shot and killed and he was subsequently raised by his mother and grandfather. When he was twenty, his sister Spencer was raped and murdered and he lost two half brothers in a diving accident a few years later. Kelsey Grammer found comfort on the stage and acted in the theater before landing the role on Cheers that made him famous. His Broadway credits include roles in both Macbeth and Othello.
During the twenty years he played the character of Dr. Frasier Crane, Kelsey Grammer worked on many other projects. He frequently took on guest starring roles and was seen on such television shows as 227, The Tracey Ullman Show, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Just Shoot Me, and Becker (which starred his former Cheers costar Ted Danson).
Movie roles also came Kelsey Grammer’s way. In 1996 he was given his first starring film role in Down Periscope with Lauren Holly. In 2001 he starred with Robert De Niro and Edward Burns in 15 Minutes. He has also famously led his voice talents to Toy Story 2 and the television show The Simpsons. Grammer will also be featured in the upcoming The Simpsons Movie.
While Grammer’s career has been highly successful, his personal life has had its problems. He has been married three times. His first marriage to dance instructor Doreen Alderman lasted from 1982 to 1990. The couple has one daughter. In 1992 he married a former exotic dancer Leigh-Anne Csuhany, but they divorced the following year.
In 1997 Grammer married former Playboy model Camille Donatacci. That same year she had a guest appearance on his show Frasier. The couple has two children.
In between marriages, Grammer has been romantically linked to spokes model Tammi Alexander, professional ice skater Cerlette Lamme, and Barrie Buckner, a makeup artist.
Since the end of Frasier in 2004, Kelsey Grammar has been keeping himself busy. He is executive producer for the hit television show Girlfriends. Most recently he appeared in the mega hit X-Men: The Last Stand as Dr. Hank McCoy, a.k.a. "The Best." Upcoming projects include the films The Grand, with Jason Alexander and former cheers costar Woody Harrelson, and Significant Others.
