Kid Rock Bio

Kid Rock

Kid Rock was born as Robert James Ritchie in 1971, in Romeo, Michigan. His father was a well-known car dealer in the area and was very controlling over Ritchie’s life. After his older brother was in a lawn mower accident, resulting in the loss of his leg, Ritchie’s father expected Robert to take over all the responsibilities of the family. This eventually drove Kid Rock to move out of his parent’s house.

After leaving home, Kid Rock moved into the housing projects in Mount Clemens, Michigan. To earn a living, he worked as a DJ at basement parties around the neighborhood. He later landed the opportunity to spin for Bo Wisdom, of Groove Time Productions, who was responsible for giving him his stage name.

Kid Rock received his first record deal at the age of seventeen with Jive Records. His first tour included rap legends such as Ice Cube, D Nice, and Yo Yo. He released his first album, Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast, in 1990. Rock’s first single, "Yo Da Lin in the Valley," was basically banned from radio because of its strong references to cunnilingus. When the radio station for Central Michigan University played the song on the air, it was fined $23,700 by the FCC. Kid Rock has become known for overall musical talent. Not only does he sing and rap in his songs, but he also plays the keyboard, guitar, bass, percussion, and the banjo.

In 1993, Kid Rock became a father to his first and only son, Robert James Ritchie Jr. The mother of the child is Kelley South Russell, who is an autoworker in Detroit, Michigan.

In 1994, Kid decided to start his own record label, Top Dog, and worked as a janitor to pay for the studio fees for all of the demos he recorded. He then released the album Early Mornin’ Stoned Pimp in 1995. He sold over 100,000 copies of the album out of his basement.

Kid Rock’s first major success happened when he ran into the MTV VJ Carson Daly at a nightclub in New York City. Daly began to push MTV to play Kid Rock’s latest video, "I am the Bullgod," from his album Devil Without a Cause, and Kid Rock began to attract national attention and the album went on to sell more than 11 million copies.

In 2001, Kid Rock began dating actress and model Pamela Anderson. The couple announced their engagement in 2002 but broke up later that year. In 2006, the couple reunited and was suddenly married in July of 2006. They were, however, divorced just five months later. In the past, Kid Rock has also been linked with model and actress, James King.

Kid Rock is currently fighting a legal battle with the California Pornography company Red Light District. The company reportedly has a sex tape from 1999 that includes Kid Rock and Scott Stapp, the lead singer of Creed, engaging in various sex acts with four groupies. They currently have obtained a temporary injunction that is preventing the tape from being distributed online.

Kid Rock is also a huge supporter of the Republican party and President George W Bush. He is also known for his very outspoken political views. Although Kid Rock was scheduled to perform at Bush’s pre-inauguration concert, the campaign decided against the performance due to his excessive use of profanity and sexual innuendos during his performances.
