Kim Lyons Bio

Kim Lyons Biography

Noted American athlete and personal trainer Kimberly Lyons was born May 5, 1973. Born to an Air Force pilot, Lyons was forced to move often as a child, and she relied on her now famous winning smile and outgoing personality to make new friends quickly.

Not originally intending to pursue a career in entertainment, Lyons first had her eye on becoming a commercial airline pilot. She obtained her education from Colorado State University, and it was here she decided to follow her passion and skill with both fitness and health. To that end, she decided to obtain her degree in nutrition and human development. She graduated in 1995.

With her degree in place, Lyons began searching for work directly out of college. Utilizing the skills at her disposal, Lyons began as an aerobics instructor. Shortly after, she began training and competing for the Galaxy Fitness Competition.

Well on her way to notoriety, Lyons secured her Pro Card in 2002. The card earned her status as an IFBB athlete.

Finally earning her big break, Lyons broke into the limelight in 2007. In this year, she became a series regular on the fitness reality series The Biggest Loser. Taking a position as a personal trainer to the various contestants, Lyon shared the screen with host Caroline Rhea. Her fellow trainers included Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels.

Outside of her work with The Biggest Loser, Lyons also served as a panelist for the Miss America pageant in 2008.

Branching into publishing, she has also released a book entitled Kim Lyons: Your Body, Your Life.

Others may recognize Lyons for her sporadic work as a fitness model. In pursuit of that professional venue, Lyons has appeared on the covers of many magazines that deal with either fitness or health.

Not always able to keep up her fitness regiment, Lyons has spent two significant amounts of time away from exercise. The first came in college when she suffered from depression. The ailment, which runs in her family, caused Lyons to put on some weight. She eventually conquered both the weight issue and the depression with a rigorous exercise program.

The second instance came during preparation for one of her various fitness competitions. Tearing her Achilles tendon, Lyons was forced to spend seven months in recuperation. Not one to sulk, Lyons took that downtime as an opportunity to further educate herself about both fitness and health.

In March of 2007, she and Gunter Schlierkamp married, making her the only trainer from The Biggest Loser to tie the knot.

She and her husband currently live in Hermosa Beach, California.
