Whether she’ll maintain her status in the public eye remains to be seen.Kourtney Kardashian was born April 18, 1979 in Los Angeles, California. Her parents are the late Robert Kardashian and Kris Jenner. Kardashian, the oldest of four children, split her time between Robert and Kris after their 1989 divorce. Her father gained notoriety, however, when he worked as a defender for OJ Simpson in his infamous murder trial. At this time, Kris decided it was best for the entire family if she relocated with the children. Kris married Olympic decathlon winner Bruce Jenner on April 21, 1991, and although Kardashian maintained contact with her biological father, she was raised by Jenner and her mother. Kardashian completed her education at Marymount High School, which is an all-girls catholic school. She then spent two years at Southern Methodist University before transferring to the University of Arizona. In May of 2002, she secured her degree in theater arts as well as a minor in Spanish. She attended school with entertainment figures Nicole Richie, Heather Blair, and Luke Walton.
Upon graduating, she and her mother launched a line of children’s boutiques in Los Angeles and New York. As of 2005, Kardashian increased her visibility when she became known as a reality television star. In that year, she became a member on the widely panned reality series Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive. Cut from the same cloth as the Paris Hilton reality series The Simple Life, the series failed to generate the same buzz. Then, in 2007, she and her family enlisted in the E! series Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The Ryan Seacrest produced show, although met with mixed reviews, was picked up for a second season. Kardashian, known for her personal endeavors as well as her famous family, is siblings with Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, and Robert Kardashian Jr. She is also half-siblings with Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner. Lastly, she is the step-sibling of Casey Jenner, Brody Jenner, and Brandon Jenner. In her personal life, Kardashian is engaged to boyfriend Scott Disick. Featured on the episode “You Are So Pregnant, Dude,” Kardashian had a scare when she woke up nauseous and bought into the speculation of her sister that she might be pregnant. After an inconclusive home pregnancy test, Disick was called and told about the situation. Shocked but surprisingly supportive, Disick and Kardashian headed to the gynecologist. When it turned out she wasn’t pregnant, the whole gang piled into a party bus and headed for Las Vegas. While there, Disick popped the question and Kardashian said yes. Riddled by misgivings and deterred by her mother’s disapproval, the two decided not to have a quickie Vegas marriage after all.
