Kristin Davis BiographyKristen Landen Davis was born on February 23, 1965, in Boulder, Colorado. Her parents divorced when she was very young and she was then adopted by her stepfather after he married her mother in 1968.
Kristin began acting at a very young age. When she was cast in a community theater production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the age of ten, she knew she wanted to become an actress. As a child, her hero was Gloria Steinem.
When Kristen was still young, her parents moved the family to Columbia, South Carolina, when her stepfather was transferred there to teach psychology at the university. Davis graduated from A.C. Flora High School in 1982. Following high school she attended Rutgers University in New Jersey.
After graduating from college in 1987, Davis moved to New York City, and began waiting tables to support herself. She then opened up a yoga studio with one of her friends. While breaking into acting, Kristin began making guest appearances on shows like Friends, Seinfeld, and Will & Grace.
Her acting career began in 1995, when she landed the role of Brooke Armstrong Campbell on the hit show, Melrose Place. Some of her cast members included Courtney Thorne Smith, Marcia Cross, Heather Locklear, and Jack Wagner. Writers made her character so bitchy that the audience hated Brooke and often confused Brooke with Kristin when they spotted her in public. The result was the writers writing Brooke out of the show after only one season.
Kristin landed her next big role in 1998, as Charlotte York on the hit HBO show, Sex and the City. She remained a starring member of the cast until the show ended in 2004. Other members of the cast included Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, and Cynthia Nixon. During the last season of the show Kristin was honored with an Emmy Award nomination, the last of the four starring women on the show to do so.
Davis recently completed filming a new television pilot called Soccer Moms in 2005. The show is about two mothers who moonlight as private detectives and will co-star Gina Torres.
She has also begun starring in films, including The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3D, co-starring David Arquette and George Lopez. Davis also boasts a supporting role in the Disney movie The Shaggy Dog in 2006, starring Tim Allen, Robert Downey Jr., and Danny Glover. Davis also filmed her latest movie in 2006, Deck the Halls, alongside Danny DeVito and Matthew Broderick.
Davis currently lives in Los Angeles, California, and is single. In the past she has dated actor Alec Baldwin. She has been voted as one of the World’s Most Beautiful Women for both Eve and Stuff magazines. Some of her favorite musicians include Dave Matthews and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. When not starring in TV or films, Davis is a spokesperson for Maybelline cosmetics and has also appeared in television commercials for Head & Shoulders.
In 2008 the girls of Sex and the City reunited in a big sceen version of the popular TV series. The movie grossed $153 million at the box office and once again made Kristin a household name as her character, Charlotte Yorke finally managed to have a baby of her own.
