Laura Prepon Bio

Laura Prepon Biography

American actress Laura Prepon was introduced to the world when she took a starring role in That ‘70s Show. Unaware that the show was going to be such a phenomenal hit, Prepon remains most known for her eight seasons as Donna Pinciotti.

Laura H Prepon was born March 7, 1980 in Watchung, New Jersey. Raised in a Catholic and Jewish family, Prepon grew up with four siblings. She was the youngest of the group.

Like many young, aspiring actresses, Prepon’s first introduction to acting was through commercial work. To that end, her onscreen debut came in 1995 in an MCI commercial.

Deciding to study her craft, Prepon’s next step was to attend the Total Theatre Lab under teacher Caroline Thomas. By 1997, she found herself on an internet soap opera entitled They Go On while simultaneously pursuing modeling.

Finding particular success in this arena, Prepon worked everywhere from Brazil to Paris to Milan lending her image to advertisements and other projects.

But she decided to leave that burgeoning career behind when she was offered the role of Donna Pinciotti on the new television series That ‘70s Show. Wisely taking the opportunity, Prepon quickly found herself on a hit program. During the show’s wildly successful eight seasons, Prepon shared the screen with Mila Kunis, Danny Masterson, Wilmer Valderrama, Debra Jo Rupp, Kurtwood Smith, Ashton Kutcher, and Topher Grace.

By the time the show came to an end in 2006, Prepon had solidified herself as one of the most popular young female sitcom actresses.

And she took that popularity and translated it into a continuingly successful career.

Her film work, although less known, has been quite extensive. Her first notable role came in the dark drama Lightning Bug. She appeared with Bret Harrison, Kevin Gage, and Ashley Laurence. Branching into other arenas than acting, Prepon also served as executive producer of the film.

She also made a splash in 2006 when she took the lead in Joel Bender’s Karla. A biopic of serial killer Karla Homolka, Prepon’s co-stars in the controversial film included Misha Collins, Patrick Bauchau, and Emilie Jacobs.

With the end of That ‘70s Show, Prepon found steady work once again with October Road. She played a starring role along with Bryan Greenberg, Brad William Henke, Tom Berenger, and Jay Paulson. Despite a strong fan base, the show was cancelled after only one season.

Most recently, she completed The Chosen, for which she provided voice work alongside Chad Fifer, Tim Curry, and others.

Outside of acting, Prepon was trained in various forms of dance including ballet and jazz.

In her personal life, Prepon has been romantically linked to Grace, her onscreen ‘70s flame.

She then began seeing Chris Masterson, taking the relationship as far as living together. The relationship dissolved, however, in 2007.
