Louise Lombard Bio

Louise Lombard

Louise Lombard, born Louise Maria Perkins on September 13, 1970, in Redbridge, Essex, UK, began her acting career at the tender age of fourteen as a television commercial star. Her family is Irish Catholic and she is fifth of seven siblings.

Louise had a love of acting that started when she took drama lessons when she was eight years old. She left school when she was sixteen years old in order to pursue her acting career.

Shortly after leaving school she played a heroin user in an AIDS awareness commercial called Wax Doll directed by Jon Amiel.

Following the successful filming of the commercial, Louise appeared in several British television (BBC) and Independent Television (ITV) dramas including Casualty and Bergerac, Capital City, Catherine Cookson’s A Black Velvet Gown, Perfect Scoundrel, and Chancer.

But Louise didn’t become a household name until she starred as fashion designer Evangeline (Evie) Elliott during the 1990s in BBC’s The House of Eliott. The story was about two talented sisters who ran a fashion house in the 1920s. Ironically, Louise admits that she can neither sew nor draw very well in real life.

In 1993, Louise won a Swedish Aftonbladet Award (similar to the BAFTA and Emmy awards) for Best Female Foreign Television Personality for her performance as Evangeline in The House of Eliott. She was also nominated for a Best Actress Award in a Dramatic Series at the Cable Ace Awards for her role.

After 1993 Louise decided to take a break from the small screen to pursue several theater roles. She worked with Sir Peter Hall in London on the West End production On Approval. She followed this by working with Michael Frayn in Manchester at The Royal Exchange on an adaptation of Dostoevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov. Louise also starred in the successful stage production Now About You with Adam Faith, best known as the star of the hit 1970s television show Budgie.

She then worked on an independent Irish film set in New York with Noel Pearson called Gold in the Streets.

In 1997 Louise did a series for ITV called Bodyguards and acted with Sean Pertwee and John Shrapnel. She played the physically demanding role of Liz Shaw, a member of an elite protection team guarding VIPs against assassination attempts.

It was while filming this show that she met her future husband, cameraman Jon Stephen. The two married in 1998 and spent their honeymoon in the Caribbean. The two have one child together.

Louise decided to take a break from acting in 1999 to pursue a degree in English literature at St. Edmund’s College of Cambridge University. But the screen soon called her and she was tempted back to Hollywood by the mini-series Metropolis, a story that followed six university friends who work and play in London. The same year she played Queen Esther in F. Murray Abraham’s Esther. Louise spent two months on location in Morocco filming the biblical story.

Since then Louise has worked and starred in several other films including a Dutch feature film called Claim in 2000, and My Kingdom in 2000, which is a modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s King Lear. The film was exhibited at Cannes and the Toronto International Film Festival.

In 2001 Louise worked on a children’s movie called Diggity: A Home at Last, which featured Andrew McCarthy. The following year she worked on an NBC pilot about war correspondents called War Stories. She also teamed up with Alec Baldwin in the 2003 TV film, Second Nature.

In 2004 Louise starred with Viggo Mortensen and Omar Sharif in Disney's Hidalgo. That same year she guest starred on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as Detective Sophia Curtis. In the 2006/2007 season she was promoted to the show’s opening credits.
