Majandra Delfino Known as both an actress and a musician, Majandra Delfino gained notoriety for her role on the popular television series Roswell. She is currently focusing on her music career and has released two albums to date. Maria Alejandra Delfino, known popularly as Majandra Delfino, was born February 20, 1981 in Caracas, Venezuela. She is of Cuban and Venezuelan descent. Attending New World School of the Arts, Delfino was well on her way to a career in the limelight. While her parents only gave her three months to pursue acting before they would make her return home, Delfino was lucky enough to win roles right away. To that end, she made her onscreen debut in Zeus and Roxanne in 1997. Playing the supporting part of Judith Dunhill, her costars were Steve Guttenberg, Kathleen Quinlan, and Arnold Vosloo. Moving between film and television, others may recognize her for her work on The Tony Danza Show as well as The Secret Life of Girls with Linda Hamilton, Meagan Good, and Eugene Levy.
By 1999, Delfino auditioned for and landed the role of Maria DeLuca on the new television series Roswell. Running successfully until 2002, Delinfo became a household name along with costars Shiri Appleby, Jason Behr, Katherine Heigl, Brendan Fehr, Colin Hanks, Emilie de Ravin, and many others. During the show’s filming, Delfino also took part in several productions from the horror spoof and critical flop Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday the Thirteenth with Tiffani Thiessen and Tom Arnold to the Oscar darling Traffic with all star cast of Benicio Del Toro, Emilio Rivera, Michael Douglas, Don Cheadle, Topher Grace, Erika Christensen, Catherine Zeta Jones, and others. She also showed up in The Learning Curve (2001) and R.S.V.P. (2002). With the end of Roswell, Delfino used her newfound celebrity status to continue her film and television career. She was the lead in 2003’s Reeseville as well as Celeste in the City with Ethan Embry. She received her highest critical praise for her dark role in State’s Evidence with fellow actors Alexa Vega and Douglas Smith.
Currently, she can be seen on the new television series Quarterlife beside Bitsie Tulloch, Maite Schwartz, and Michelle Lombardo. Outside of acting, Delfino released her first album, The Sicks, in 2001 to rave critical reviews. On April 23, 2007, her much-anticipated second album, Tarte, was released through her website and Amazon. In her personal life, she was rumored to be romantically involved with her Roswell costar Brendan Fehr. She then married fellow actor Devon Gummersall on October 6, 2007. They are currently together. |
