Matt Dallas American actor and relative newcomer Matthew Joseph Dallas, known simply as Matt Dallas, was born October 21, 1982, in Phoenix, Arizona. Unlike many other actors, Dallas’s love for performing was not inspired from a long line of acting relatives. Rather the opposite as Dallas is the first in his family to take up acting as a vocation. Dallas has three younger brothers named Michael, Paul, and Tucker. While most twelve year old boys are not thinking about future career choices, this was not the case with Dallas. After seeing a play version of The Ugly Duckling with his grandmother, Dallas fell in love with acting. He knew then and there it was the only job for him. Even by the time he was eighteen, that ardor had not faded. He moved to Los Angeles, California, in order to better pursue his dream. By 2005, he landed his first role. It was a bit part in the horror/thriller Way of the Vampire. While the film itself was seen by very few people, and widely panned by those who did, Dallas was still content knowing he was doing something he loved.
Also in 2005, Dallas showed up in the 80s inspired camp film turned horror flick Camp Daze. Unfortunately this film floundered just as badly as Dallas’s earlier work. Still limited to relatively unknown work, Dallas took a part in the comedy Wannabe. Despite limited viewings, the film was generally well received. This work should not be confused with the other film previously titled Wannabe starring Ashlee Simpson. Dallas did, however, manage to eventually break into a mainstream hit. He had a one-episode stint on the highly popular comedy/drama Entourage starring Jeremy Piven, Kevin Dillon, and Adrian Grenier. Landing right back in independent film, Dallas next appeared in Living the Dream in 2006. The film starred the often infamous Sean Young. After years of bit parts and small films, Dallas finally got the break he needed. In 2006 he won the lead in a new sci-fi television series titled Kyle XY. Dallas plays the puzzling teenager who cannot seem to exhibit human behaviors. Each episode is devoted to revealing a little more about the mysterious character’s past. While it is not receiving huge acclaim or wide attention, the show has managed to find a fan base. And Dallas’s popularity is only increasing with all his additional exposure.
Currently, Dallas has completed filming The Indian and is in post-production for the new horror flick Babysitter Wanted. Fans of Dallas can even spot him in several music videos. In 2004 he was the star of the “Geek Love” video, and the following year he co-starred with Mischa Barton for James Blunt’s video “Goodbye My Lover.” Dallas has also appeared on many talk shows such as Jimmy Kimmel Live and The View. He consistently finds his sexual orientation the subject of Perez Hilton’s online blog. YUDDY |
