Mick Jagger Bio

|
Mick Jagger For an impressive five decades Mick Jagger has been the lead singer for one of the world’s most famous rock ‘n’ roll bands, The Rolling Stones. As the front man for the iconic band, Mick Jagger’s life has been scrutinized by the public and the press since the mid-1960’s, and there has been much to see. Michael Philip Jagger was born in Dartford, London on July 26, 1943 to a middle class family. His father, Joe, was a teacher and his mother, Eva, was an Australian immigrant to England. As a boy, Mick Jagger was academically successful and he earned a scholarship to the London School of Economics. After two years he dropped out to pursue a career in music even though he had no formal training. When he was a boy, Mick Jagger had a schoolmate named Keith Richards, with whom he had lost touch. In 1960 they bumped into one another, and after sharing their interest in music, formed The Rolling Stones with Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts and Brian Jones. The band has kept the same members with the exception of Brian Jones who committed suicide in 1968. They have released close to 25 albums, and Mick Jagger has released several solo albums as well. He and Keith Richards are credited with writing close to 400 songs together.
Although the pair did not marry until 1990, they had two children together, Elizabeth and James, before they wed. Two other children, George and Gabriel were born while they were married. Jerry Hall filed for divorce from Mick Jagger in 1999 when she learned that he was having a child with model Luciana Gimenez. The child, Lucas, was born in 1999 although Mick Jagger and Giminez did not become a couple. In addition to his wives, Mick Jagger had been romantically linked to singer Marsha Hunt, the mother of his first child Karis. He has also had relationships with model Sophie Dahl, singer Marianne Faithful, actress Uma Thurman and singer/songwriter Carly Simon. Although popular opinion has it that Simon’s song You’re So Vain was written about Warren Beatty, there is some speculation that she wrote it about Mick Jagger instead. Now in his 60’s, Mick Jagger shows no signs of slowing down musically or romantically. However, since 2003 those who form a relationship no longer do so with Mick Jagger; they now form a relationship with Sir Mick Jagger. He was knighted for his “services to popular music.” |
