Miss Piggy As with all the great movie stars before her, Miss Piggy has become a role model to all females both in Hollywood and throughout the world. An icon to whom they look for guidance in matters of the heart, how to dress for all red carpet events and as a constant source of inspiration. For nearly 30 years, since she initially broke into the glitzy world of Hollywood, Miss Piggy has been wooing audiences with her own brand of sexy French talk, physical manipulation of the men in her life and her feminine vulnerability. Born in Hog Springs, Iowa Miss Piggy always knew that she would someday reach the dizzy heights of stardom. When interviewed by Harpers and Bazaar she revealed with all the modesty that only Miss Piggy could exude, 'I always knew that I was destined for le top.' In the same interview she attributed her success to ‘Talent, Beauty, Intelligence, Wit. And Modesty.' After graduating high school Miss Piggy took up a position working in a department store but she constantly nurtured the dream of becoming a super star. Always keeping abreast of the current movies and stars such as Elizabeth Taylor, Jane Fonda and Bo Derek. When Jim Henson first interviewed the cast for his new venture The Muppet Show, his first thoughts for the role of Miss Piggy were of a blonde, sophisticated, feminine, beady-eyed female. He could never have imagined how much more he would get once he cast Miss Piggy. She initially appeared briefly in the 1975 pilot special, The Muppet Show: Sex and Violence, in a sketch called "Return to Beneath the Planet of the Pigs." Miss Piggy was unnamed in that show, but by the time The Muppet Show began in 1976, she was recognizably Miss Piggy. With her large blue eyes, sporting a long flowing white gown, and jumping seductively all over Kermit, the love of her life.
At once she became a mega star and a role model to millions. Once she made her debut on The Muppet Show in 1976 she was instantly propelled into the spotlight and she soon realized that with it, fame bought a constant barrage of admirers and paparazzi and to protect herself from overzealous admirers she completed a course in Karate and soon become known as the most famous martial arts practitioner since Bruce Lee. With her well known “Hi-Ya’ she once executed one of her famous karate chops when performing a duet with Elton John. During her long and illustrious career she has sung, danced and rustled up wicked sexual tension with some of the most luscious leading men of our times: Michael Caine, Pierce Brosnan, Tim Curry, Dennis Quaid and Gene Kelly, to name just a few. Along with her stage and movie career Miss Piggy has also carved herself quite a career in the field of writing, as noted in her self help book, ‘Miss Piggy’s Guide to Life’, her signature brand perfume, ‘Essence of Swine’ and her now world renowned line of Haute Couture leaving such designers as Ralph Lauren and Giovanni Versace wondering just how she does it! When asked by the New York Times if fame had changed her, she said, 'I am still just little Moi, the same gorgeous and supremely talented pig. Beauty is my curse'.
With all the trappings of success and fame Miss Piggy still keeps all four trotters on the ground and she attributes that to the love of her life, Kermit the Frog. Kermit and Miss Piggy met on the set of The Muppet Show in London where she convinced him that she was the sex goddess he had been searching for and that once she had him in her sights he would never escape, of which she often reminds him with her sudden karate blows to the unsuspecting frog. With so many high profile couples such as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt and David Beckham and Victoria Beckham, her famously documented romance with Kermit continues to be the source of media fascination. Other stars may come and go but Miss Piggy’s glamour, acting prowess and over all sexiness lives on in a way that Marilyn Monroe and Anna Nicole Smith could only ever have dreamed of. ABB |
