Monet Mazur Declared one of Hollywood's hottest young actors by Vanity Fair, Monet Mazur was born on April 17, 1976, in Los Angeles, California. Named after her father’s favorite painter, Claude Monet, Mazur grew up in Malibu, where her dad worked in the recording industry as the former manager of Billy Joel, and her mother worked as a model. Mazur’s three siblings were also christened with artistic names: Cezanne, Matisse, and Miro. Mazur began working in her teens, landing a small role in Addams Family Values in 1993, alongside Raul Julia, Angelica Huston, Joan Cusack, and Christina Ricci. She also landed a part on daytime soap, Days of Our Lives. In 1995, Mazur appeared on Fox's Party of Five, starring Scott Wolf, Neve Campbell, Matthew Fox, Lacey Chabert, and Jennifer Love Hewitt. That same year, Mazur landed her first lead film role in Raging Angels; However, two years later in 1997 she was back to a small part in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, with just one line as "Mod Girl."
During the late 90s, Mazur continued her work in television with a guest-starring role on the WB's Jack & Jill, starring Amanda Peet, Jaime Pressly, and Simon Rex. By 2001, Mazur was beginning to garner the attention she deserved when she was cast as one of Johnny Depp's drug friends in Blow. Also in 2001, Mazur landed a role in Jennifer Lopez's film Angel Eyes, as well as a starring role in the crime drama The Learning Curve. The following year, Mazur starred as dot-com temptress Candy, alongside Josh Hartnett in the romantic comedy 40 Days and 40 Nights. In 2003, Mazur was cast as a biker babe in the film Torque, with Ice Cube, Jaime Pressly, and Christina Milian. Director, Joseph Kahn described Mazur’s allure in the audition process, saying, "I went with Monet because she just killed it in the audition. She has a certain spark and magic to her. I think she's a natural entertainer. Even in the way that she talks, or makes eye contact with you, she's entertaining you." In 2005, Mazur appeared again with Jennifer Lopez in the romantic comedy Monster-In-Law, also starring Jane Fonda. That same year, Mazur married Alex de Rakoff, and gave birth to the couple’s first son, Preston Daniel de Rakoff. Mazur has previously been romantically involved with actor Adrien Brody and guitarist Dave Navarro.
