Nick Zano Biography American actor Nick Zano got his first big break in 2002 with MTV hosting their news segment as well as Movie House. Shortly after, he moved on to his best known role as Vince on the popular series What I Like About You before returning once again to MTV to host Why Can’t I Be You, where he can currently be seen. Nick Zano was born March 8, 1978 in Nutley, New Jersey. He was subsequently raised in Florida where he obtained his initial education from Wellington High School. It was in this high school that Zano first began experimenting with acting, performing in various drama department productions. Growing increasingly interested in the entertainment industry, Zano moved to Los Angeles, California shortly after high school. While there, he began developing both television and film projects at a small and little known production company. To pay the bills while he attempted to break into show business, Zano also took a job as a shoe salesman. Little did he know, his job in a shoe store would lead to his big break. Impressing a female customer with his looks and charming personality, Zano unwittingly impressed an MTV employee. She immediately returned to her higher ups and told them that Zano was exactly what they were looking for in a new MTV employee.
Hired on shortly after, Zano became a correspondent for MTV News in 2002. He stayed on until 2003, and during that year, he worked with fellow correspondents John Norris, Iann Robinson, and others. The following year, he teamed up with MTV again when he hosted Movie House. He is most known, however, for his work with the WB series What I Like About You. From 2003 until the show’s conclusion in 2006, Zano shared the screen with series regulars Amanda Bynes, Wesley Jonathan, Jennie Garth, and Allison Munn. While working with the series, Zano capitalized on his newfound star status and entered the world of film. In 2003, he had a small role opposite Delta Burke in Sweet Potato Queens followed by another brief role in 2004 with Fat Albert starring Kenan Thompson as the title role. 2005 found him in his largest film role to date with Everything You Want opposite Shiri Appleby. He found another steady gig in 2006 when he landed the host slot in MTV’s newest series Why Can’t I Be You? Once again in the limelight, his film career has recently received another boost. He is in post-production for Joy Ride: End of the Road as well as Beverly Hills Chihuahua. He is also filming Final Destination 4, the latest in that horror franchise. It is slated for a 2009 release.
In his personal life, Zano has been romantically linked to Bynes, his former TV costar. They were rumored to be together from 2003 to 2006. During their relationship, Zano had an unconfirmed fling with Kendal Sheppard. By 2006, he was said to be dating Kristin Cavallari of Laguna Beach fame, and as of early 2008, he has been consistently spotted with singer/actress Haylie Duff. |
