Nicole Scherzinger Biography 

American pop star Nicole Scherzinger is noted for her time with girl group Eden’s Crush as well as her stint with the Pussycat Dolls. Expanding her range of outlets, she has even begun dabbling in acting.

Nicole Prescovia Elikolani Valiente Scherzinger, sometimes billed as Nicole Kea, was born June 29, 1978 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was born to a Hawaiian and Russian mother and a Filipino father. Scherzinger’s mother gave birth to her when she was only eighteen and shortly after separated from the father.

Scherzinger and her mother then relocated to Louisville, Kentucky along with her stepfather, Gary Scherzinger. Both she and Ke ala Scherzinger, her sister, were later adopted by Gary.

Growing up in what she describes as a conservative and Catholic home, Scherzinger began her performing career early. She obtained her education from DuPont Manual High School and the Youth Performing Arts School. She went on to attend Wright State University where she majored in theater arts. While gaining her education, Scherzinger continued to perform at the Actors Theatre of Louisville.

Her entertainment career began in earnest, however, in 1999 when she sang backup for the band Days of the New. She was featured on their second album.

In 2001, she continued on her journey to pop stardom when she appeared on the television program Popstars. Beating out her competition, Scherzinger won a slot in the manufactured girl group Eden’s Crush. Her band mates included Ivette Sosa, Maile Misajon, Ana Maria Lombo, and Rosanna Tavarez.

Finding success with the singles “Get Over Yourself” and “Love This Way,” Eden’s Crush only enjoyed brief fame. Their label collapsed, and the band disbanded shortly after. Scherzinger has been vocal about what she describes as the hellish experience with Eden’s Crush, feeling she was the band member everybody hated.

After trying to find her footing outside of Eden’s Crush, Scherzinger teamed up with the Pussycat Dolls as lead vocalist. She has also earned songwriting credits for her work with the group. Proving her greatest success to date, the band is also composed of Ashley Roberts, Carmit Bachar, Jessica Sutta, Kimberly Wyatt, and Melody Thornton. Noted former members include Carmen Electra, Cyia Batten, and Christina Applegate.

Recently, Scherzinger has taken the widespread popularity of the band and leveraged that into a solo career. Her noted duets include collaborations with Shaggy, Will Smith, Diddy, and Will I Am.

Her debut solo album, Her Name Is Nicole, has been helped along by producers Timbaland, Bryan Michael Cox, and others. Although it was initially intended for a 2007 release, several singles have been released. There is still no official word when the album itself will hit the shelves.

Outside of singing, Scherzinger has had a brief acting career with guest appearances on My Wife and Kids opposite Damon Wayans and Tisha Campbell as well as Cane with leads Jimmy Smits and Rita Moreno.

In her personal life, she has been romantically tied to Nick Hexum, 50 Cent, Talan Torriero, Jimmy Iovine, and Will I Am of the Black Eyed Peas.
