Nicollette Sheridan Biography Nicollette Sheridan was once quoted as saying she “grew up feeling like the ugly duckling.” The beautiful, buxom blonde has now become a large success in Hollywood, largely due to her role as Edie Brit on one of the biggest hits on television, Desperate Housewives. Born Colette Sheridan on November 21, 1963, in Worthing, West Sussex, England, actress Nicollette Sheridan has often been mistaken as the daughter of famous British actress Dinah Sheridan, who shares no relation with Nicollette. Her real mother is Sally Sheridan, or Sally Adams. Sheridan reportedly considers her mother’s late ex-boyfriend and father to her half-brother, actor Telly Savalas, as her dad.
The Golden Globe nominated Sheridan debuted on the small screen with the short-lived TV series Paper Dolls in 1984, but a few years later she captured the attention of audiences and critics with her recurring guest role as Paige Matheson on the popular nighttime soap opera Knots Landing, which also starred Joan Van Ark, Michele Lee, Ted Shackelford, and Donna Mills. Sheridan won the 1990 Soap Opera Digest Award (SODA) for Outstanding Lead Actress: Prime Time, and a year later, the SODA award for Outstanding Heroine: Prime Time. Sheridan went on to appear in several made-for-TV movies as well as the film Spy Hard in 1996, opposite Leslie Nielson and alongside Charles Dunning, Marcia Gay Harden, Barry Bostwick, John Ales, and Andy Griffith; and Beverly Hills Ninja in 1997, opposite Chris Farley. In 1998, Sheridan auditioned for the role of Grace on Will & Grace, but lost out to Debra Messing.
Sheridan was selected by People as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the world back in 1990, but then in 2004, she was chosen as the worst-dressed celebrity of the year by Mr. Blackwell, a noted fashion critic. The year 2004 was a milestone in many other ways for Sheridan. First, she auditioned for the role of Bree Van De Kamp on the new series Desperate Housewives. The role went to Marcia Cross, but Sheridan then auditioned for and got the part of sexy divorcee Edie Britt, a role which brought her renewed media attention. The show, which also stars Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria, Felicity Huffman, and Brenda Strong, quickly rose to the top in terms of popularity and success. Sheridan was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in 2005 for her role as Edie Britt. Also that year, Sheridan became the center of controversy for her role in a sexually suggestive skit preceding ABC’s NFL Monday Night Football, meant to attract viewers to watch Desperate Housewives, also on ABC. Sheridan dated then-teen idol Leif Garrett when she was a teenager and into her early 20s, a relationship that lasted six years but reportedly ended due to Garrett’s drug abuse problem. Sheridan later married Harry Hamlin in the fall 1991, a marriage that lasted exactly two years. Her marriage to Hamlin was rumored to have been a green-card marriage for her to gain American citizenship. For a period in 2005, Sheridan was engaged to Swedish actor Niklas Soderblom. Follwoing the end of that relationship, Nicollette and Bolton rekindled their romance and became engaged. Everything seemed to be going well with the new relationship until August 2008 when the actress's publicist announced that the couple had once again called time on their relationship. YUDDY |
