Olivia Munn Bio

Olivia Munn Biography

American model, television personality, and actress Olivia Munn is best known for her work with the gaming show Attack of the Show. But in recent years, she has also established her name through films such as Big Stan and the soon to be released Insanitarium.

Olivia Munn was born July 2, 1982 in the state of Oklahoma. Her parents are Kim Munn and Sam Munn, of Chinese and Caucasian descent respectively. Her parents divorced, however, when she was very young, and by the time she was just two years old, Munn’s mother had re-married to a man involved with the Air Force. Due to her step-father’s job, the family moved a lot over the course of Munn’s childhood.

As a result, Munn spent the majority of her formative years in Tokyo, Japan. It was here she began dabbling in local theater as well as modeling within the fast-paced world of Japanese fashion.

With this experience behind her, Munn eventually made the move back to the States. She settled in Los Angeles and began her film and television career. 2004 marked her onscreen debut in the very low budget, very poorly received slasher flick Scarecrow Gone Wild with Matthew Linhardt, Samantha Aisling, and Caleb Roehrig.

This was also the year she began working with Fox Sports Net as an intern. Beginning her career in college football sideline reporting, Munn later commented that the job didn’t really fit her personality, and she was glad when she finished.

The following year, however, she began a job that more suited her professional and personal ambitions. She had a small role in the 2005 comedy The Road to Canyon Lake opposite Sean Spence and Daniele Ferraro, and she also landed her first recurring role on the television drama Beyond the Break. Playing female surfer Mily Acuna, she shared the screen with Tiffany Hines, Suzie Pollard, Daphne Pea, and many others.

Her most visible role came the year after that, however, when she became a regular on Attack of the Show. A gaming centered television program, she shares the limelight with Kevin Pereira, Zach Selwyn, and Chris Gore. Other part-time hosts include Blair Butler, Layla Kayleigh, and Wil ONeal. Munn was the last minute replacement for former host Sarah Lane, and Munn’s time with the show has been met with mixed reviews. The show’s core audience is dedicated gamers, and many of them question her real knowledge of the gaming world. She has met particularly strong opposition since her and Anna David began hosting a segment on the show entitled “In Your Pants,” which doles out sex and relationship advice.

On the film front, Munn made her first big budget appearance in Big Stan. Released in 2007, the comedy starred Rob Schneider and David Carradine.

Munn is currently in post-production for Insanitarium, a horror film starring Jesse Metcalfe. She is also filming The Slammin’ Salmon, which is set to star Michael Clarke Duncan and Bill Paxton.

Others may recognize Munn for her modeling campaigns with such big brand names as Neutrogena, Nike, Pepsi, and others. She even had a non-nude spread in Hugh Hefner’s Playboy magazine.

In her personal life, Munn is dating fellow actor Bryan Greenberg.
