Pauley Perrette American actress Pauley Perrette is most known for her long term portrayal of Abby Sciuto on Navy NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service. Outside of that role, Perrette is also known for her time with television series Murder One and Time of Your Life. Pauley Perrette was born March 27, 1969 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She moved frequently with her family, however, so she lived everywhere from Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina to Los Angles, New Jersey, and New York. Attending college, Perrette studied sociology, psychology, and criminology. Eventually deciding to pursue acting, Perrette made her onscreen debut in 1994 with ABC Afterschool Specials: Magical Make-Over with Ingrid Rogers, Kerry Washington, and Mike Doyle. Her first recurring role came two years later when she landed a part on Murder One. Acting beside Anthony LaPaglia and Mary McCormack, Perrette portrayed the character of Gwen for ten episodes over 1996 and 1997. Crossing between television and film, Perrette took her first movie role in 1997 with the romantic drama The Price of Kissing. She led the cast which also included Nicole Eggert, Jon Seda, and Loretta Devine.
Finding steady work through various television series, Perrette appeared on The Naked Truth with Tea Leoni and Tom Verica as well as earning a four-episode stint on The Drew Carey Show with cast regulars Ryan Stiles, Christa Miller, and Craig Ferguson. In 1999, she continued this streak by showing up in Jesse opposite Christina Applegate and Cheryl Ladd. After paying her dues for approximately five years, Perrette finally received the break her career needed. She was cast as a series regular on the new television series Time of your Life, a spin off of the popular series Party of Five. Starring from 1999 until the show’s cancellation in 2001, the cast included Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jennifer Garner, Gina Ravera, Johnathon Schaech, and Diego Serrano. When this project came to an end, Perrette rebounded with another series entitled Special Unit 2 opposite Michael Landes. Work became lean, however, for the next couple years until she happened to be spotted in a New York City club where she was bartending. This chance encounter landed her the role of Abby Sciuto in Navy NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service. She took the part in 2003, and she is still with the show. Other cast members include Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Sean Murray, Cote de Pablo, and Lauren Holly.
A prolific voice talent, Perrette is also associated with the animated film Brother Bear. Other voice stars included Joaquin Phoenix, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Greg Proops. She is currently filming the horror film Satan Hates You. It is due for a 2008 release. In her personal life, Perrette married sometimes musician and actor Coyote Shivers on October 20, 2000. Perrette claims the relationship was abusive, and they divorced on February 1, 2006. Since that date, she has taken out several restraining orders against her ex and has publicly stated that she fears him. Outside of acting, Perrette is an accomplished poet and photographer. An artist in multiple arenas, she even sang in the band Lo-Ball. She is also an avid activist for animal rescue and gay rights. |
