Penelope Ann Miller Born in 1964 in Los Angeles, Penelope Ann Miller has carved out a successful movie career. Her father is television actor and producer Mark Miller, best known for his leading role in 1960s situation comedy Please Don’t Eat the Daisies. Her Mother is Beatrice Miller, a publicist and costume designer. She also has a sister, Marisa Miller, who models and acts. Following her high school graduation, Penelope Ann moved to New York to study theatre and was awarded a Tony nomination for her performance in Our Town. A move into television brought roles in episodes of some high profile shows in the 1980s. Penelope Ann Miller appeared in Family Ties which starred Meredith Baxter, Michael J.Fox, and Michael Gross. Miami Vice was the cult show of the decade and featured the stylish duo of Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas. Pamela Ann also did hospital drama St.Elsewhere with Ed Begley Jr., and Ed Flanders. Penelope Ann Miller appeared in her debut film in 1987, titled Adventures in Babysitting. Chris Columbus directed the comedy starring Elisabeth Shue and Vincent D’Onofrio. She interspersed movie and television roles and secured a part in Kindergarten Cop, a comedy directed by Ivan Reitman and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger with Pamela Reed and Linda Hunt. This was soon followed by a role in Chaplin, directed by Richard Attenborough. Charlie Chaplin was played by Robert Downey Jr., and the film co-starred Geraldine Chaplin, Paul Rhys, and Anthony Hopkins.
The roles continued with steady work for Penelope Ann Miller and she was hired by director Brian De Palma to be in his crime thriller, Carlito’s Way. The players were Al Pacino, Sean Penn, and John Leguizamo. Another notable role was in Along Came a Spider, a mystery thriller directed by Lee Tamahori and featuring Morgan Freeman and Monica Potter. Television work is still enjoyed by Penelope Ann Miller, and she has appeared in two hit shows in 2005. She was in an episode of Desperate Housewives starring Teri Hatcher and Felicity Huffman, and an episode of CSI: NY, starring Gary Sinise. Penelope Ann Miller is still much in demand and has projects lined up for 2006 release and for the following year. The Deal is an action thriller directed by Bryan Goeres, starring Henry Thomas and Dean Stockwell. Funny Money is a comic farce directed by Leslie Greif, starring Chevy Chase, Armand Assante, and veteran Robert Loggia. Penelope Ann has also done a horror movie directed by Oxide Pang Chun and Danny Pang. Titled The Messengers, it stars John Corbett and Dylan McDermott. Currently married for the second time, Penelope Ann Miller had a brief first marriage, and has one child. She has been linked previously to actors Al Pacino, Eric Thal, and Matthew Broderick. |
