Portia de Rossi Best-tressed actress Portia de Rossi was born Amanda Lee Rogers, on January 31, 1973, in Melbourne, Australia. De Rossi took on her current stage name at the young age of fifteen. She attended Melbourne Law school prior to moving to the U.S., to pursue a career as an actress. In 1994, de Rossi landed a role in the film Sirens, also starring Hugh Grant and Elle Macpherson. She then moved out to Los Angeles, where she landed guest spots on various TV shows, as well as joining a star-studded cast in teen scream flick, Scream 2 in 1997, with Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Jamie Kennedy, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jerry O'Connell, Laurie Metcalf, and Jada Pinkett Smith.
In 1998, de Rossi landed her breakthrough role on loopy law series, Ally McBeal, after Vanessa Marcil turned down the role to instead star on Beverly Hills, 90210. Playing icy attorney Nell Porter, de Rossi quickly garnered attention for her long blond locks, which were featured prominently in various episodes when her character unleashed her wild mane, threatening her jealous co-workers. De Rossi’s appearance also became the subject of attention in 2000, when her rail-thin frame drew rumors that the actress might be suffering from anorexia, as her co-star, Calista Flockhart was often rumored to have suffered from. De Rossi later admitted that she had gotten "too thin", and co-star Courtney Thorne Smith, later commented in the press about the pressures to be thin on the set of the show. One year after Ally McBeal wrapped in 2002, de Rossi landed a recurring role as Lindsay Bluth Fünke on Fox Television's critically acclaimed Arrested Development, co-starring Jason Bateman and Jeffrey Tambor. She stayed with the show until it was unexpectedly canceled in 2006. Although de Rossi was previously in a two-year marriage to documentary film maker, Mel Metcalfe; in recent years, she has been in relationships with women. From 2000 to 2004, de Rossi was involved in a relationship with singer, Francesca Gregorini, step-daughter of former Beatle, Ringo Starr. De Rossi kept her relationship very low-profile at this time, and did not publicly come out to the press. In 2004, de Rossi ended her relationship with Gregorini, and began dating comedian Ellen DeGeneres. It was only at this time that Rossi officially came out, opening up about her personal life to magazines such as Details and The Advocate. During her interview with The Advocate, de Rossi revealed that most of her family as well as her Ally McBeal cast mates learned that she was gay from seeing photos of de Rossi and Gregorini together in the tabloids in 2001.
So, after the mayor of California signed a bill allowing gay marriage sin the state, in August 2008 the comedian Ellen DeGeneres tied the knot with Portia de Rossi in a ceremony that took place in the backyard of their 33.5 million dollars Beverly Hills estate.
The two appeared ecstatic and couldn't keep the smiles from their faces or their eyes off each other as Portia dressed in a stunning dress like a real fairytale princess.
