Prince Harry It appears that the younger grandson of the British Monarch, Queen Elizabeth II is following in his uncle, Prince Andrew’s footsteps. The younger brother, good looking, charming and destined for a career in the British Forces. Prince Henry of Wales, more often referred to as Prince Harry is the younger brother of the future king of England, Prince William. As with his uncle, (prior to Royal marriages and Royal babies) he is third in line to the throne, is a bit of a 'party goer', and has recently taken up his position as a Cornet in the Blues and Royals regiment of the Household Cavalry of the British Army. His uncle Andrew was a pilot with the Royal Air Force during the Falklands conflict with Great Britain in 1982. Prince Harry was born on September 15th 1984 to Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales and his first wife, the late Princess Diana, Princess of Wales. Following his brother Prince William, Harry’s first educational encounter was at Mrs. Jane Mynors's nursery school in West London. He later followed in his brother’s footsteps again to the Wetherby School, and later to Ludgrove School in Berkshire. In 1988 he went on to attended the prestigious Eton College in Berkshire. In June 2003, he completed his education at Eton with two A-levels. In Geography he received a D, and in Art a B. At school, he developed his love of sport, particularly polo and rugby.
After finishing his education at Eton, Harry took a gap year, visiting Australia and Africa. In Australia, he worked on a cattle station. That year the 2003 Rugby World Cup was held in Australia and Harry was there to watch it live. In Africa, he worked in an orphanage in Lesotho. Later in the year, he traveled to Argentina on holiday.On 8 May 2005 Prince Harry entered the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst one of England’s most elite military academies. There, he had the title of Officer Cadet Wales instead of using his royal title. He was part of Alamein Company. The young Prince, like his mother before him, is no stranger to both the scrutiny and the constant speculation and reporting of untruths by the paparazzi both at home and overseas.After attending a party with the theme "Colonial and Native" Prince Harry turned up in all innocence wearing a Nazi uniform. This caused much outrage of anti-fascists and Jews. Harry later apologized for his actions, but because he did it through a statement, rather than in person he once angered some groups. Once again in 2002 the newspapers revealed that the prince had admitted smoking cannabis. A subsequent police investigation cleared Harry of wrongdoing and no charges were filed. Harry's father, Charles, was praised for his handling of the situation, which included taking Harry to visit a drug rehabilitation facility in London.
Prince Harry has been associated with two girls in the past two years, Chelzy Davy, a Zimbabwe-born heiress to an African ranching and real estate fortune, whom he was seen kissing at the Cartier Polo International Tournament. Later in 2006 the press released photographs of Prince Harry kissing another girl, which would have implied he was cheating on Chelzy. However, Clarence House issued a statement saying that the picture had been taken three years earlier and immediately requested a correction from the Sun newspaper in the UK. However, the couple's relationship had to endure a separation when Prince Harry joined his regiment, The Blues and Royals on a ten month tour of Iraq in May 2007 – in an active combat zone. Following his departure from Iraq, Harry was secretly located in Afghanistan with a complete international black out on all news relating to his deployment. However, on February 28th 2008 The Drudge Report leaked the information on their blog and the British Government quickly moved to have Harry flown home to the UK. With the Prince's life at risk once the Taliban knew of his position and the lives of his comrades in jeopardy, the press came under fire from the Royal family's spokesperson. ABB |
