Rachel Nichols Bio

Rachel Nichols

Hot young actress Rachel Nichols is most known for her roles in Alias as well as the prematurely axed series The Inside. Currently, she can be seen in the new thriller P2.

Rachel Emily Nichols was born January 8, 1980 in Augusta, Maine. She went to school at Cony High School but spent her sophomore year studying in France. She pursued her secondary education at Columbia University, where she majored in psychology.

While she studied, Nichols also began her modeling career. Finding success early, she posed for companies such as Guess?, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Nicole Miller. She even traveled to Europe on several occasions for photo shoots. Although it was difficult to balance her blossoming modeling career with school, she did manage to graduate.

Branching out from modeling, she began her acting career in 2000 with a bit part in Autumn in New York opposite Richard Gere and Winona Ryder. She did not begin pursuing acting in an earnest manner, however, until 2002. It was in this year she landed a one-episode spot on the hip, hit series Sex and the City playing the threesome ready hostess Alexa opposite leads Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon.

After several bit parts in small productions, she finally landed a significant role in the commercial slasher The Amityville Horror (2005). She costarred with Ryan Reynolds and Philip Baker Hall.

In the same year, she won the lead in a new television series, The Inside. Although it received wide critical praise, the show was canceled after only one season. It was a disappointment for everyone involved, including Nichols’ costars Adam Baldwin, Katie Finneran, Jay Harrington, and Peter Coyote.

2005 proved a busy year as she also took a small role in the Steve Martin, Claire Danes, and Jason Schwartzman romance Shopgirl. Providing the largest commercial exposure, she also landed a recurring role on Alias that lasted from 2005 to 2006. She acted beside series regulars Jennifer Garner, Ron Rifkin, and Michael Vartan.

When Alias came to an end, Nichols quickly capitalized on her popularity to land a role in the pilot for Them as well as the Samuel L Jackson, Josh Hartnett, Alan Alda, and Teri Hatcher drama Resurrecting the Champ.

She can currently be seen in the horror flick P2 with Wes Bentley as the mentally unwell security guard terrorizing Nichols’ character.

She has completed work on Charlie Wilson’s War, and she is in post-production for the film For Sale by Owner.

In her personal life, Nichols is rumored to have dated OC star Benjamin McKenzie as well as producer Scott Stuber.
