Until August 8^th 2008 the names Rielle Hunter or Lisa Druck meant very little to anyone other than her friends, family and Senator John Edwards.

Rielle Hunter was born in 1966 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and after dropping out of university in Tampa, eventually worked her way across the country to Manhattan, New York.

Back in those days she was known by her birth name, Lisa Druck, a woman who liked to party hard, during which time she met the American author Jay McInerney with whom she also partied to such an extent that he later commented, ‘neither of us was living a very sober or reflective life back then, but in that period I spent a lot of time with Lisa and her friends, whose behavior intrigued and appalled me.’

McInerney eventually based his character Alison Poole on his experiences with Hunter, in his book, Story of My Life which is narrated in the first person from the point of view of an ostensibly jaded, cocaine addled, sexually voracious 20-year-old.

Hunter eventually moved to California and married. Her ex-husband, who was an attorney, was also the son of JonBenet Ramsey murder case District Attorney Alex Hunter. The marriage wasn’t to last and she ended up back in New York where she changed her name from Lisa Druck to Rielle Hunter at which time she became increasingly engaged in various spiritual quests.

In 2006 along with a partner she began her own web videography company, Midline Groove Productions, and within a few days of starting her business met with Democrat, former malpractice attorney and one time Senator from North Carolina who was running for the office of President while visitng a Manhattan bar.

After approaching Edwards, Hunter managed to pursued him that she could help him lose his ‘Ken’ doll reputation.

With a $114,000 payment in her hand from John, Hunter set about renewing Edwards’s image and accompanying him on various over seas excursions during which time she created a series of videos in advance for the 2008 Presidential campaign which she called Webisodes.

By 2006 news was beginning to circulate that the globetrotting pair had more than just a ‘working relationship’. The American tabloid, The National Enquirer made claims that there was evidence to support an extramarital affair and that Miss Hunter was pregnant with the senator’s baby.

The relationship continued until 2007 at which time she was closely involved with his campaign, then oddly, she just disappeared. Evidence emerged that she was living in a multi-million dollar mansion in California and receiving funds amounting to $15,000 per month from a person close to Edwards, Fred Baron. Both Edwards and Baron denied any involvement by Edwards in the money Hunter was receiving.

Up until August 2008, Edwards had maintain in public, that he had not had a relationship with Rielle Hunter, but amid too much paparazzi evidence went public with a confession.

Both Senator Edwards and Elizabeth released press statements on August 8^th commenting on the Senator’s affair.

Edwards himself appeared in a TV interview with Bob Edwards on Nightline in which he maintained that the he is not the father of Hunter’s baby daughter, Francis Quinn Hunter, who was born on February 27^th 2008, and that Andrew Young, another former member of Edwards’s campaign staff is the self confessed father.
