Robert Loggia
Robert Loggia was born on January 3, 1930 in New York City and is Italian-American. Loggia studied journalism in school and then served in the United States Army. In 1954 he married Marjorie Sloan. They had three children together before divorcing. He then married Audrey O’Brien in December of 1982. They remain together today and have one child together. Robert is also the father to actress Kristina Loggia and the father-in-law of actor James LeGros.
Following his stint in the Army, Loggia began to focus his career on movies, the stage, and television. He made his off-Broadway debut in 1955 in a rendition of The Man with the Golden Arm. This was followed up by his film debut in 1956 with an appearance in Somebody Up There Likes Me. Throughout the rest of the 1950s and 1960s Loggia began starring in a number of Broadway plays.
Through most of the 1970s Loggia starred in a couple TV series including The Serial Storm (1972) which was a daytime serial that aired on CBS. This was followed by another daytime series on CBS, Search for Tomorrow (1973). Loggia then began to focus more on his film career starring in Revenge of the Pink Panther (1978), followed by appearances in the subsequent sequels.
Loggia has also starred in a number of films beginning in the 1980s until today. Some of his early films include An Officer and a Gentleman (1982) co-starring Richard Gere, Scarface (1983) starring Al Pacino, Independence Day (1996) starring Will Smith, and Big (1988) starring Tom Hanks.
Loggia was nominated for his first Academy Award for best supporting actor for the film, Jagged Edge (1985) co-starring Glenn Close and Jeff Bridges. He has also been nominated for one Emmy award while playing an FBI agent on the TV series Mancuso, FBI (1989).
Some of the roles Loggia has become best known for are not movies or television shows. He has made several appearances in the video games Grand Theft Auto III and FreeSpace 2. He also appeared in a TV commercial for Minute Maid in the late 20th century which has gained cult status over the years.
Most recently, Loggia had a recurring role on the fifth season of The Sopranos. He also has a recurring role on the animated series Tom Goes to the Mayer which airs on Adult Swim. Loggia is known for dying both his hair and eyebrows a dark brown color in movies. He says that people have trouble recognizing him in real life with his naturally white hair.
