Sarah Harding Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding was born Sarah Hardman on November 17, 1981, in Ascot, Berkshire, England. Harding grew up in Stockport, Cheshire, and reportedly changed her name from Harding to Hardman, due to a strained relationship with her father. After graduating from Hazel Grove High School, Harding attended Stockport College and worked as a nightclub promoter. With her strong voice and stunning looks, Harding was also a fixture during Karaoke nights at the local Puss and Boots pub, but it was only setting the stage for much bigger audiences to come.
While working as a waitress in Central Manchester in 2002, Harding decided to enter the UK talent search show, Popstars: The Rivals. The aim of the show was to select five girls to form girl group, Girls Aloud. Harding was chosen to be a member of the Girls Aloud quintet, alongside Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle, and Cheryl Tweedy. Girls Aloud became an instant hit with audiences, racking up fourteen top 10 hit singles on the British charts, including two number one singles, as well as four albums. Unlike many formulated pop acts, Girls Aloud received critical praise from the press. No stranger to competitions, Harding has also been a contender for FHM magazine’s national beauty contest, High Street Honeys. Harding landed a spot in the Top 100, but later withdrew after finding success with Girls Aloud. FHM readers have since voted Harding as one of the Top 30 sexiest women in the world in more than one of their annual polls. Harding has also parlayed her blonde bombshell looks into a lucrative modeling career, landing a £100,000 contract with Ultimo lingerie, which has previously been held by supermodels Rachel Hunter and Helena Christensen. Harding was reportedly selected for the lingerie line after photos of her wearing a bikini while on vacation hit British papers.
In 2007, Harding will star on the big-screen in the independent British film, Runners With Cars, alongside Donna Air and Claire Goose. Harding has confirmed that her foray into acting does not mark the end of Girls Aloud, and has expressed nervousness that her part will ultimately end up on the cutting room floor. Since entering the public eye on Popstars, Harding’s love life has been the focus of much gossip in the press. Harding dated Mikey Green of the boyband Phixx for two years; and has also been linked to footballer, Calum Best; and actor, Stephen Dorff. On September 10, 2005, Harding was a bridesmaid for Katie Price, better known as Jordan, in her wedding to Peter Andre. YUDDY |
