Seann William Scott Bio
Seann William Scott

Actor Seann William Scott was born on October 3, 1976 in Cottage Grove, Minnesota. As the youngest of seven children, Seann grew up in a blended family; both his parents had three children each from previous marriages. Seann had early ambitions to become an actor, and became even more inspired when he landed a job at a theater where he could watch movies for free.

While attending Park High School, Seann was voted “Most Friendly” by his classmates, and also crowned homecoming king. In addition to being popular, Seann was also athletic. He was a star running back for his high school football team, and also played on the high school basketball team with future LA Lakers star, Sam Jacobson. In 1995, Seann graduated high school early, and set off to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career.

Shortly after arriving in LA, Scott was discovered at a talent competition and almost immediately flown to New York by ABC to test for their long-running soap opera All My Children. Seann was cast in commercials for Sunny Delight and American Express, as well as an Aerosmith video for the song Hole in my Soul. He also starred in a series based on Random House's Sweet Valley High novels for pre-teens.

Despite landing a wide variety of acting gigs, Seann’s early days in Los Angeles weren’t all sunny. On his way to an audition for a part in Baywatch, Seann was robbed by gang-members in South Central LA. His shirt, shoes, and one-dollar bill were stolen.

Seann’s breakthrough role as Steve Stifler in the 1999 film American Pie would prove to carve a niche for him in the revived teen sex comedy genre. However, Seann was still unsure of the permanence of his career in acting throughout the late 90s. Between films, he worked as a gym trainer, a host at California Pizza Kitchen, a plumber at a law firm, an L.A. Zoo attendant, and a Home Depot clerk.

In 2000, Seann played variations of his signature dumb-jock character in the films Final Destination, Road Trip, and Dude, Where's My Car? In 2001, Seann returned to the role that made his mold in American Pie 2 for which he received an MTV Movie Award nomination for Best Comedic Performance,
and again in 2003 with American Wedding, for which he received an MTV Movie Award nomination for Best Dance Sequence.

In real life, Seann is reported to be nothing like the archetypical jock-jerk that he plays onscreen. Growing up, he volunteered with children that have special needs and attended church as often as three times a week. He obligingly signs autographs to fans with the line “God bless, Seann William Scott.”

In 2001, Seann found himself looking for roles that would broaden his range beyond the usual character he plays. He starred in Kevin Smith's Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, as well as Ivan Reitman's comedy Evolution with Julianne Moore, David Duchovny, and Orlando Jones. In 2003, Seann starred in Bulletproof Monk, a film that marked his foray into action movies, albeit still within the teen genre.
That same year, Seann hosted the MTV Movie Awards with Justin Timberlake.

In 2005, Seann landed a role in Dukes of Hazzard. The following year, he lent his voice to the animated feature Ice Age 2: The Meltdown.
