Actress Shannon Elizabeth at one time was voted as the 8th Sexiest Female Star, and even appeared nude in Playboy early in her career, although later she counted appearing in the magazine as one of her biggest regrets. Elizabeth owes her exotic looks to that of her Syrian and Lebanese father and French, English, and Cherokee mother.
Born as Shannon Elizabeth Fadal on September 7, 1973, in Houston, Texas, her family later moved to Waco to join other family members already living there. As a child Elizabeth took dance lessons, and in high school she was into cheerleading, volleyball, and the student council, but her largest interest then was tennis. At one point she had thought about turning pro, but instead pusued modeling, finding an agent in New York. After modeling across the world in places like Milan and Hong Kong, Elizabeth came back to the states and modeled for the Elite Agency and Ford Modeling Agency.
Elizabeth took some acting classes and quickly made a foray into the acting world. Her first role was in the fantasy horror movie, Jack Frost. She followed this with several small guest roles on television in shows such as Arli$$, Step by Step, and Pacific Blue. Elizabeth caught her big break with the movie American Pie, starring with Jason Biggs, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas, and Alyson Hannigan. This led to her also starring in an Enrique Iglesias video for the song, Be with You.
Next up for Elizabeth was starring in Scary Movie with the Wayans brothers and Carmen Electra, followed by Tomcats, as she starred with Jerry O’Connell and Jake Busey. The success of American Pie brought about a sequel for Elizabeth, allowing her to star again in American Pie 2, once again with Jason Biggs, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas, and Alyson Hannigan. The film’s sequel, American Wedding, was completed without Elizabeth.
Comedy seemed to be Elizabeth’s mainstay as she next starred in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back along with Jason Mewes, Kevin Smith, and Ben Affleck. After this, Elizabeth had some guest starring roles on TV and also recorded the voice of Serena St. Germaine in the video game for James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing. She also costarred with Cedric the Entertainer, Vanessa L. Williams, Bow Wow, and Steve Harvey in the comedy movie Johnson Family Vacation.
Towards the end of the show’s run, Elizabeth had a reoccurring role as Brooke on That 70s Show, starring with Topher Grace, Danny Masterson, and Ashton Kutcher. This led to her landing a starring role in the television show, Cuts, about the management of a beauty salon. She stars in this along with Marques Houston.
Elizabeth lived with Joseph D. Reitman for many years and eventually married him, although they divorced after three years. Her interests other than acting include poker and animal rescue. Elizabeth is considered by many to be one of the top celebrity poker players in the country. After founding an animal rescue organization, Animal Avengers, Elizabeth has combined her many interests by organizing a celebrity poker night to benefit her organization. |
