Known primarily for her numerous appearances over the years in Hugh Hefner’s Playboy magazine and for her acting roles in many erotica movies both fantasy based and in the genre of erotic thriller.

Shannon Tweed was born in St John’s Newfoundland, Canada on March 10^th 1957 to a mink rancher father and is one of seven children with her younger sister, Tracy Tweed also becoming a Playboy model.

Shannon’s early education was at Mount Royal College in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan during which time she became a regular at beauty pageants. By 1977 Tweed was crowned the winner of the Miss Ottawa Valley pageant and proceeded to the finals of Miss Canada in 1977 where she was placed in 4^th position. She won the talent award at the national pageant with her rendition of Olivia Newton-John's I Honestly Love You.

Shannon’s appearance in Hefner’s Playboy magazine as Playmate of the Month in November 1981 and 1982 won her fame and fortune as both an actress and a model.

During that time she became briefly involved with Hugh Hefner.

Since her early days of modeling, Tweed’s acting career has seen her appearing as Diana Hunter in the prime-time soap opera Falcon Crest where she starred with Angela Channing, and being chosen by Michael Landon for a guest appearance in Highway to Heaven in 1986. She went on to make guest appearances on Frasier with Kelsey Grammer, as well as starring in several B movies.

Tweed has appeared in over 60 films, including Detroit Rock City, produced by Gene Simmons of KISS fame in 1999 with whom she has two children. The couple are not mrried.

She is one of the best known actresses of mainstream erotica and she occasionally acts with her younger sister, Tracy Tweed, and the pair have also appeared in Hugh Hefner’s Playboy photo spreads together.

In 2006 Tweed penned her autobiography, Kiss and Tell, and in 2007 both she and Simmons have appeared on the television show Gene Simmons: Family Jewels.
