Shia Labeouf Bio

Shia LaBeouf

American actor Shia LaBeouf has established himself as one of the hottest up and coming stars with his back to back hits Disturbia and Transformers. Increasing his star potential, he recently finished filming the latest installment in the Indiana Jones franchise.

Shia Saide LaBeouf was born June 11, 1986 in Los Angeles, California. His parents are dancer and artists Shayna Saide, and his father is former Vietnam vet Jeffrey Craig LaBeouf. Having difficulty holding down a steady job, Jeffrey worked odd jobs such as circus mime and rodeo clown. LaBeouf has described his parents and upbringing as “hippie,” admitting his father grew cannabis, which he was smoking by the age of ten. His father’s drug use, however, escalated to heroin. Although he entered rehab, his parents could not make the marriage work. They divorced, and LaBeouf was raised by just his mother.

In terms of education, LaBeouf had several tutors and attended Alexander Hamilton High School. He was accepted into Yale University but declined the opportunity.

His entertainment career started at the young age of ten when he began performing foul-mouthed standup. LaBeouf’s explicit act and his quirky personality won over an agent, who started landed the young actor jobs. His onscreen debut came in 1998 with the film Monkey Business.

He next booked a string of television appearances on various sitcoms such as Jesse with Christina Applegate, Suddenly Susan with Brooke Shields, Freaks and Geeks with James Franco, and many others.

LaBeouf first became a household name through the family comedy series Even Stevens. He starred from 1999 to 2003 opposite Christy Carlson Romano and Nick Spano. He even took home the Daytime Emmy in 2003 for the role.

As this series came to an end, LaBeouf soon learned his career was just getting started. Winning his biggest role yet, he led the cast of the popular comedy Holes. He costarred with Sigourney Weaver and Jon Voight.

He followed with a bit part opposite Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle and another supporting role in I, Robot with Will Smith, Bridget Moynahan, and Alan Tudyk. His next major role came in 2005 with the thriller fantasy film Constantine led by Keanu Reeves and Rachel Weisz.

But it was 2007 that would propel LaBeouf into star status. He took the lead in the new horror film Disturbia with Sarah Roemer and Carrie Anne Moss as well as leading the blockbuster success Transformers directed by Michael Bay and featuring Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, and John Turturro. He also lent his voice to the animated comedy Surf’s Up with other voice talents Jeff Bridges, Zooey Deschanel, Jon Heder, and James Woods.

Most recently, he has completed filming Steven Spielberg’s Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull with Cate Blanchett, Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, Jim Broadbent, and John Hurt. He is also filming Eagle Eye with Michelle Monaghan, Rosario Dawson, and Billy Bob Thornton.

In his personal life, LaBeouf is a smoker with two dogs, Brando and Rex. He loves sports and film, and he currently resides in Los Angeles.

He made headlines on November 4, 2007 when he was arrested for being drunk in public and criminal trespassing.
