Sofía Vergara Latin bombshell Sofía Vergara was born on July 10, 1972, in Barranquilla, Colombia. A quiet and academic child, Vergara grew up on her father's farm in Colombia, where she enjoyed swimming in the river and riding horses. Vergara attended the private bilingual school, Marymount; and then went on to study dentistry at a Columbian college for three years. At eighteen years old, "La Toti," as she was nicknamed, married her childhood sweetheart, and soon after they had a son together, Manolo.
