Tom Brady Biography

From the sidelines to the Super Bowl, football player Tom Brady was born on August 3, 1977 in San Mateo, California. The Bradys were avid fans of football – Tom’s parents were San Francisco 49ers fans, and frequently took Tom and his sisters to games. In grade nine, Tom began playing football and baseball for an all-boys Catholic school. The high school Tom attended, Juniper Serra High, also counts baseball player Barry Bonds amongst its athletic alumni. Tom was drafted as a catcher by the Montreal Expos in 1995; however, he opted to instead accept a scholarship to the University of Michigan to play college football.

During his first two seasons with Michigan, Tom, the team's third-string quarterback, spent more time seated on the sidelines than on the field. He worked hard, studied the team's playbook, and eventually became Michigan's starting quarterback in 1999. During his senior year, Tom scored 20 touchdown passes, leading Michigan to an Orange Bowl victory over Auburn.

In 2000, Tom was drafted to the New England Patriots. Once again, he found himself in study-mode, watching from the sidelines. In 2001, the Patriot's starting quarterback, Drew Bledsoe, suffered an injury, and Tom was appointed the team's starter. No longer warming the bench, Tom led the Patriots straight to Super Bowl XXXVI in a victory over the St. Louis Rams. He became the youngest player ever to be named Super Bowl Most Valuable Player, and led his team to an NFL-record breaking 21 straight wins and a second Super Bowl title. Their 24- 21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX further proved the Patriots as one of the greatest teams in the history of the NFL.

Despite his athletic abilities in football and baseball, Tom was not as great on the green. He has joked, “I can't tell you how many golf clubs I broke as a 10-year-old. Every time I hit a bad shot, I'd try to break my club. I once busted our TV with a video game. I threw the remote through the screen. Every time I'd lose, I'd just throw a fit. That was me growing up. I guess it's still the same.”

After splitting with his long term girlfriend Bridget Moynahan, Tom met and became involved with the Brazilian bombshell model Gisele Bundchen.

Tom has expressed aspirations of one day becoming a United States senator, and in 2004, he attended the State of the Union Address as a guest of President George W Bush, although he declined to speak to the press about his political views. According to The Smoking Gun however, Tom has not voted in any political election since 2004.

In January 2008 Tom saw his team, the New England Patriots competing the Superbowl final in Arizona where they were pitched against the New York Giants. It wasn't to be a winning night for the Patriots, they lost to the Giants.

In late December 2008 rumours abounded of secret wedding plans for Tom and Gisele with a view to the marriage ceremony being held in Bundchen's native Brazil sometime in March 2009. But eventually the couple would take their vows in a small Catholic ceremony in Los Angeles followed by a second wedding in Costa Rica. In May 2009 the couple announced the news that they were expecting the birth of their first child together later in 2009. This would be the first child for Gisele and the second for Brady who had a son with former girlfriend Bridget Moynahan.
