By 1968, Roberts had become highly successful on stage and was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor in 1968 thanks to his performance in How Now Dow Jones. The following year he was nominated for a second Tony Award for his performance in Play it Again, Sam.
On December 14, 1969 Roberts married Jennifer Lyons. Shortly afterward their daughter, Nicole Roberts was born. Nicole later became an actress herself. Lyons and Roberts divorced in 1975. Since then Roberts has maintained a long term relationship with Pamela Jordan.

Some of the series he worked on included: Rosetti and Son (1977), The Four Seasons (1984), and The Lucie Arnaz Show (1985). He also continued to work steadily throughout the 1990’s even if he never became highly recognizable or sought after for his work.

Other than television, Broadway, and film, Roberts was also a regular performer on CBS Radio Mystery Theater. He also lent his voice to a couple documentaries including Buckminster Fuller: Thinking Out Loud (1996) and The Trial of Adolph Eichmann (1997). |
