Topher Grace Best known for his role as Eric Forman on That 70’s Show, Grace has proven to be a promising young actor that shows a lot of potential for future works. Topher was born into an upper class family in 1978 in New York City, New York. His father was a business executive and his mother was an office worker. Grace grew up in Connecticut, where actress Chloe Sevigny babysat him and his sister, Jenny. Later, he would appear in school play with Sevigny. Growing up, Topher’s sister was also a friend of actress Kate Bosworth, best known for her starring role in Blue Crush. The two were on a soccer team together and Topher later chaperoned one of their field trips. Once both Bosworth and Grace had made it to Hollywood they co-starred in the film Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! (2004). Topher’s full name is actually Christopher but he did not like to go by the abbreviated version, Chris. Instead, he chose the unusual abbreviation Topher. It was while attending Brewster Academy in New Hampshire that Grace got into acting in school plays and also got his first break into television. A producer for That 70’s Show also had a daughter who attended Brewster Academy. He caught one of Topher’s performances in a school play and thought he would be perfect for the role of Eric Forman. The show aired in 1998 and quickly became a success. Other members of the cast include Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Wilmer Valderrama, Danny Masterson, and Laura Prepon. Grace left the cast in 2005 in order to pursue other acting opportunities. Even though his character was one of the primary characters of the show, it went on without him the following season.
Grace attempted a college career at the University of Southern California, but then chose to leave after his freshman year to pursue his acting career. Shortly thereafter, he won the role as Seth Abrahms in Traffic (2000). After a couple cameo appearances, Topher’s next big role was in Mona Lisa Smile (2003). The following year, 2004, proved to be another successful year for the young Grace. He starred in three films that premiered that year including Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!, P.S., and In Good Company. For his role in both P.S. and In Good Company, Topher was award with the “Breakthrough Performance by an Actor” from the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures. As for his love life, there is little to tell. Topher is a private person and does not share who he is dating with the public. However, in the past he has been linked with Anne Hathaway (2001-2002). He has also claimed to have a huge crush on the French actress, Audrey Tautou. |
