Tracy Morgan
The comedic actor with the “hil-arious” catchphrase, Tracy Morgan, was born on November 10, 1968 in the Bronx, New York . Morgan first got his start in television in the mid-90s, when he was cast on Martin Lawrence’s the Martin Show, playing the character of the ‘hood’s own “ Hustle Man. ”
In 1996, Morgan joined the cast of Saturday Night Live, and drew upon his dramatic abilities to assemble his own cast of memorable characters. He played “Brian Fellow”, the 6th grade-educated animal lover and host of Brian Fellow's Safari Planet; as well as “Astronaut Jones”, a suitcase-carrying spaceman; “Dominican Lou” and “Woodrow”.
During his seven-year stint on Saturday Night Live, Morgan appeared in various comedic films, including Half Baked (1998), alongside Dave Chappelle, Janeane Garofalo, and Jon Stewart; as well as Kevin Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001), with Ben Affleck, Will Ferrell, and Chris Rock. Morgan also made an appearance in a music video for the single Notorious (2000) featuring Diddy and Lil Kim.
2003 marked a busy year of beginnings and endings for Morgan. He completed his run on Saturday Night Live; starred in the Chris Rock comedy, Head of State alongside Bernie Mac and Ali LeRoi; and starred in his own show, The Tracy Morgan Show, which was cancelled after one season. Also in 2003, Morgan appeared on Ashton Kutcher’s celeb-reality prank show, Punk'd, in which his vehicle was towed from valet parking.
Two years later, Morgan was involved in a more serious automobile incident when he was arrested in Hollywood on impaired driving charges, later pleading no contest to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge stemming from the incident. On November 28th, 2006, Morgan was again arrested and charged with DWI, this time in his home state of New York .
In 2006, Morgan starred as The Meat Man Head of State, “Percy P” in the Marlon Wayan’s and Shawn Wayan’s comedy Little Man. Morgan is also a contributor on Bob Saget's March of the Penguins parody, Farce of the Penguins. The direct-to-DVD film is slated for release in 2007, and also features Samuel L Jackson, Jason Alexander, Whoopi Goldberg, Dane Cook, Christina Applegate, and James Belushi.
Morgan is currently part of the NBC series created by and starring his SNL co-star Tina Fey. 30 Rock also features the comic genius of Alec Baldwin.
Morgan currently lives with his highschool sweetheart and wife of 21 years, Sabina Morgan. The couple has three children together: Tracy, 17; Malcom, 16; and Gitrid, 12. |
