Trisha Yearwood Trisha Yearwood was born in 1964 in the town of Monticello, Georgia. Her parents and best friend still live there today. She went on to develop her country music career in Nashville, Tennessee from Belmont University. She sprang onto the country music scene 15 years ago with her first hit single She’s in Love with the Boy that found its way to number one on the country music charts. Before making it, she spent years as a demo singer and also as a receptionist at MTM Records. Trisha is best known for her ability to deliver an emotionally charged performance without the help of stage tricks. She has been dubbed by Entertainment Weekly as “one of the finest interpretive singers ever.” Publications from across the United States have taken note of her singing abilities. Not only are the technical aspects of her music perfect, but she gives the audience a little something extra as well. To date, Trisha has produced nine Nashville albums. The awards she has accumulated over the years have been numerous as well. She won Female Vocalist of the Year in both 1997 and 1998 at the CMA awards. On top of that, she has raked in three Grammy awards. Some of her memorable performances include singing at the Olympics, the Library of Congress, and the Academy Awards.
This year, after over a decade of success in the music industry, her hometown decided to honor Yearwood. They named a street in Monticello “Trisha Yearwood Parkway”. While this has prompted teasing from her closest friend, Trisha says that she is very touched that they would honor her in such a way. Other honors that have been bestowed upon Yearwood this year include becoming a member of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. She was also chosen to sing at the “Songs of the Century” celebration held by the National Endowment of the Arts. In 1999, Yearwood became a part of the cast of the Grand Ole Opry. When she’s not making hit country music albums, Trisha appears in a recurring role for the television show JAG on CBS. Other projects she has recently completed include singing the soundtrack for the children’s film The Tangerine Bear. Yearwood’s first marriage was to Christopher Latham in 1987. She had three children with Latham, Taylor, August, and Allie. Unfortunately the marriage did not work out and the two were divorced by 1991. Then, in 1994 Trisha married her second husband, Robert Reynolds. That marriage ended in 1999. Yearwood’s current husband is the country music superstar, Garth Brooks. The couple was engaged in 2005 at a concert in front of thousands of fans. They were married in December of 2005 in a small ceremony. The wedding took place in their home in Oklahoma. Trisha has also performed a duet with Brooks called Love Will Always Win, which is currently near the top of the country music charts. |
