Still only in her teens and this up and coming actress has already made more of a mark on the industry than many veteran actresses and with her latest role opposite Zac Efron in ‘High School Musical 2’ it would appear that future is looking even brighter than the past.

Vanessa Hudgens was born in Salinas, California on December 14^th 1988 to Greg and Gina who between them can trace their ancestry to Irish, Filipino, Chinese, Spanish and Native American, making Vanessa the beautiful actress that she is. Vanessa is not the only actress in the family, she has a sister, Stella, who was born in 1995 and who also appears in commercials and several television shows.

From the age of twelve Vanessa was home schooled by her mother and during that time her parents have encouraged the multi talented actor, singer and dancer to concentrate on her career in show business. By the age of eight Vanessa had already landed leading and supporting roles in local theatre as a singer in musical productions of ‘Carousel, ‘The Wizard of Oz’, ‘The King and I’ and Cinderella’

After auditioning for the part in a commercial Hudgens was offered the part and at that time the family made the decision to move the family to Los Angeles. By 2004 Vanessa was landing roles in movies. One of her first parts was as Tintin in ‘Thunderbirds’ which saw her starring with Bill Paxton, Genie Francis and Ben Kingsley. This was followed by her television appearance as Noel in ‘Quintuplets’ with Jason Priestley, Robert Hoffman and one of Hugh Hefner’s Playboy cover girls and American swimmer, Amanda Beard.

Vanessa followed her role in ‘Quintuplets’ with the small part of Tiffany in the American comedy series ‘Still Standing’ which had an array of actors and actresses such as James Patrick Stuart, Swoosie Kurtz and Ashley Tisdale. Vanessa’s greatest role to date is that of shy, intelligent Gabriella Montz in ‘High School Musical’ with Zac Efron and Ashley Tisdale and in the 2007 sequel, ‘High School Musical 2’ also starring Efron and Tisdale.

Besides acting Vanessa has also branched out into the world of recording with the release of her debut album in September 2006 entitled, ‘V’ on Hollywood Records which is owned by Disney. Her music from the album has been used in a commercial for ‘Desperate Housewives’ , and ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and the track “Say OK’ has also been used for TV commercials for ABC’s ‘Lincoln Heights.’

Vanessa has cited Celine Dion and Alicia Keys as her main influence in music and with a career that began at just eight years old and has bloomed into blockbuster movies such as ‘High School Musical’ there is no doubt that Vanessa is a guaranteed star of the future. Entering the world of television, theatre and movies at such a young age stole Vanessa’s opportunity to finish her education but she does plan to go to return to college and hopes to eventually get a degree in business. Hudgens is currently dating her ‘High School Musical’ and ‘High School Musical 2’co-star Zac Efron but the long time love in her life is her toy poodle, Shadow.
