Vincent  Phillip DOnofrio is an American actor and occasional producer born in Brooklyn, New York, on June 30^th 1959. As a child he was frequently on the move with his father Gene and saw life in Hawaii, Colorado and Florida from where he graduated in 1977 from Hialeah-Miami Lakes High School going on to attend Colorado University.  His stay at the university was short lived when he made the decision to follow a career in acting and was accepted into the Stanislavsky Theatre in New York City.

Before hitting the big screen during the 1980s, Vincent worked as a bouncer for New York nightclubs and as a bodyguard for celebrities, including Robert Plant and Yul Brynner. At that time acting became a family interest when Vincent's sister, Elizabeth DOnofrio, became and actress and now teaches acting in Asheville, North Carolina.

Vincent’s debut on the big screen came in 1987 as marine recruit Private Pyle, in Stanley Kubrick’s ‘Full Metal Jacket’ which saw him starring with Alec Baldwin and gaining 70 pounds in weight to play the role.Vincent DOnofrio has twice played real-life John F Kennedy assassination eyewitness Bill Newman, in Oliver Stone's 'JFK'  in 1991 and Spike Lee's 'Malcolm X' in 1992.

With his stature, Vincent soon became an in-demand character actor and frequently found himself cast in the roles of villains as in ‘Cell’ where he portrayed a serial killer, Carl Rudolph Stargher, along side Jennifer Lopez and Vince Vaughn and in 1997 as an alien in ‘Men in Black’ with Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith.Although Vincent had spent most of his career on the big screen, after becoming Emmy nominated in 1998 for Outstanding Guest Actor for his role in ‘Homicide: Life on the Street’,’ Vincent began thinking about the small screen, and in 2001 he signed a contract with NBC for his first-ever series-regular role as a brilliant, ‘know it all’ detective on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. The show became a huge hit and the part of Robert Goren became larger than life with Vincent’s interpretation of the role,

Unfortunately the stress of a weekly show took its toll and after being hospitalized twice for bouts of fainting, Vincent was diagnosed with exhaustion. As a result, beginning in 2005, his character Det. Goren and his partner Det. Alexandra Eames, played by Kathryn Erbe, began alternating episodes with another team of New York detectives, Chris Noth as Detective Mike Logan and his side kick, Detective Megan Wheeler played by Julianne Nicholson.In 2005 Vincent took his second shot at playing the cinematic legend, Orson Welles in the 2005 short film ‘Five Minutes, Mr. Welles’, which he also directed and produced.

Over his years on the big screen, Vincent has become a firm friend of another Hollywood actor, Vince Vaughn, with whom he has appeared in three movies: ‘The Cell’, ‘Thumbsucker’, and ‘The Break Up’ in 2006, which saw him in the role of the bumbling, eccentric brother of Vaughn and put him acting alongside Jennifer Aniston.

In his personal life Vincent, and his then partner, Greta Scacchi, had a daughter, Leila in 1992, after a brief relationship which resulted from them appearing in several movies together in the 1980’s and 1990’s, including ‘The Player’ and ‘Fires Within’.
