Vivica A Fox Bio

Vivica Fox

Vivica A. Fox believes that the sexiest thing on a person is “self confidence,” and judging by the career she has had, combined with her appearance in People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People in the World list, she has every right to be a self confident person.

Born on July 30, 1964, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Fox was the youngest of four children born to William and Everlyena Fox. While at Arlington High School, she excelled in basketball, volleyball, and track, as well as cheerleading. She then went on to graduate from Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California, with an Associate Art Degree in Social Sciences. While eating lunch on Sunset Boulevard, she was discovered by producer Trevor Walton.

Fox’s first role of note was a two-part episode of China Beach, and shortly after she was cast in the soap opera Days of Our Lives, and later another soap opera, Generations. She filmed one episode of Who’s the Boss, meant to be the pilot of a spinoff. However, once the spinoff, Living Dolls, was cast, Fox’s role was filled by the younger Halle Berry. Instead of starring in a new television series, Fox instead played a minor role in the movie Born on the Fourth of July with Tom Cruise, and filmed guest star roles on shows like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Beverly Hills, 90210, and Matlock. She also spent time on another soap opera, The Young and the Restless.

Biding her time worked in Fox’s favor as she landed her first lead role in Independence Day, the second movie in her career, as well as the second with that holiday in the title, and her second time working with Will Smith. Along with a few more minor roles, Fox had a co-starring role in Booty Call, with Jamie Foxx and Tommy Davidson. Things moved along quickly for Fox as she played Ms. B. Haven in Batman & Robin, which had her appearing with Arnold Schwarzenegger and George Clooney. She also starred along with Vanessa L. Williams in the movie Soul Food.

Fox appeared with the woman who stole her first series from her, Halle Berry, in Why Do Fools Fall in Love, and roles oddly began to drop back for her at this time, as she seemed to get only smaller roles in movies and guest star spots on television shows for several years. It was Quentin Tarantino who resurrected her career, inviting her to star along with Uma Thurman and Lucy Liu in the action thriller, Kill Bill: Vol. 1.

Her career now back in full swing, she began landing starring roles, including the lead in The Salon. She finally got a starring role in a television series after being denied so many years before, as she starred in 1-800-Missing, with Mark Consuelos and Gloria Reuben. She was also a co-executive producer for several episodes of the series. Fox was a contestant on the popular Dancing with the Stars, strutting her stuff and displaying her great self-confidence, despite only lasting on the show for four weeks before being kicked off.

Fox is currently divorced, after three years of marriage to singer Christopher Harvest, who goes by the stage name of Sixx-Nine. Her future is looking bright as well, and she has the lead role in an upcoming biopic being filmed about Whitney Houston.
