Wentworth Miller

Wentworth Earl Miller III is a multi-racial English-born actor who is best known for his role as Michael Scofield in the FOX television series, Prison Break.

He was born in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, on June 2, 1972 to parents who are both Yale graduates. The family moved to Brooklyn, New York when he was one. He has two younger sisters, Gillian and Leigh. 

Although he grew up in an academic family, Miller has wanted to act since a very young age. When he was studying English at Princeton University , he joined the school’s famed acapella group, The Princeton Tigertones and traveled the world performing before small and large audiences.

When Miller graduated from Princeton in 1995, he decided the move to Los Angeles, California to pursue an acting career. The acting parts didn’t come quickly or frequently and Miller spend several years working as a production assistant for three different made-for-television movies to support himself. 

In 1998 he finally landed his first screen role in an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. Over the next couple of years he appeared on various television shows such as ER, Popular, Time of Your Life, and Dinotopia. 

Miller’s breakthrough role came in 2003 when he landed the part of Anthony Hopkins’ younger self in The Human Stain.

In 2005 Miller appeared in two episodes of Joan of Arcadia as Ryan Hunter. He also appeared as Sergeant Paul Adams in the pilot issue of The Ghost Whisperer, starring Jennifer Love Hewitt. The same year he appeared in two of pop-diva Mariah Carey’s music videos, It’s Like That and We Belong Together from her ninth studio album, The Emancipation of Mimi. Miller was also the voice of the evil robot plane EDI in 2005’s Stealth. 

But that wasn’t the end of Miller’s acting gold mine in 2005. That year he also landed the starring role of tattooed Michael Scofield in the FOX series, Prison Break. (His tattoos for the show take four hours to apply.) The show is directed by Brett Ratner who also directed Mariah’s It’s Like That and We Belong Together music videos.

The show became an instant success, and in 2006 Miller received nominations for Best Actor on Television and Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series at the Saturn Awards and Golden Globes. He also escorted actress Mariana Klaveno to the 2006 Emmy Awards. 

Miller was once rumored to have sponsored a cat shelter, but he cleared up those rumors in an interview with TV Guide saying that he’s “deathly allergic” to cats and all animals.

Miller is currently single and has no plans to settle down admitting that his work comes first and that he’s happiest when he’s on set.
