Whitney Able Bio

Whitney Able Biography

American actress Whitney Able has only been on the acting scene for two years. But in that short amount of time, she has racked up a sizable amount of roles in both television and film. Although her career is just beginning, Able’s credits do seem to revolve around the horror genre.

Able made her onscreen debut in 2006 with the pilot episode of Secrets of a Small Town. Relatively well received by critics and audiences, the production was also led by Angie Harmon, Leighton Meester, and John L Adams. The series, however, was ultimately passed up by the network.

Able made her next bid for exposure later in the year when she had a starring role in Serge Rodnunsky’s comedy Dead Lenny. Playing the principle character of Eve, Armand Assante, Steve Baker, and Steven Bauer served as the supporting cast.

Staying within the comedy genre, she also appeared for one episode in Rodney, a television series that got picked up in 2004. During its relatively successful two years on air, the show featured a long list of cast regulars such as Rodney Carrington, Jennifer Aspen, Nick Searcy, Oliver Davis, Matthew Josten, and Amy Pietz.

Finishing out 2006 with a switch back to film, Able reached a somewhat larger audience with a sizable role in the Jonathan Levine slasher horror All the Boys Love Mandy Lane. Amber Heard played the title character, while Anson Mount, Michael Welch, and Aaron Himelstein provided support.

After one year of tepidly received projects, Able finally had a hit with audiences when she appeared opposite Lauren German and Gabriel Mann in Elizabeth Harrison’s romantic comedy Love and Mary. Unfortunately, the project was only seen by a small handful of people.

The same was true for her next project, Remarkable Power with Kevin Nealon and Tom Arnold. Mainly a film festival project, the film was well-received by the limited audiences that viewed it.

Next, Able returned to mainstream television when she took a one-episode appearance on CSI: NY. Playing Rita Steinway, Able rubbed acting shoulders with leads Gary Sinise and Melina Kanakaredes.

Once again drawn to the horror genre, Able had a turn in 2007’s Unearthed. Emmanuelle Vaugier and Luke Goss also partook in the project.

Her most recent project was entitled Age of Kali, which was released in 2008. A somewhat heavy drama, Able entered new acting territory by taking the role. She portrayed Sabrina, while Taylor Nichols and Sarah Zoe Canner starred.

She currently has one project in pre-production—another horror thriller called Grinder.
